hey hey! i just treated myself to this thai con from home depot in one of these self watering pots. the plant itself looks good but i lifted the nursery pot out and it’s looking a little scary under there…. some white stuff, maybe mold? should i repot it with a chunky soil mix? and how much light should she be getting?
yes, I would recommend a repot w a chunky soil mix if the soil is looking sus! I personally would also refrain from using a self watering pot, as thai cons are really prone to root rot and like to dry out a bit between waterings. as for light, 6-8 hours of bright indirect light is ideal, I have mine in a west facing window and she loves it! hope this helps :)

wait about a week or two before repotting! it can stress her out too much since she isn’t used to her new environment yet and i would add a homemade moss pole (find tutorial on youtube or tiktok). the homemade ones are just so much better and actually allow the ariel roots to go in them, providing the best support
