Any and all help welcome!!! I got my Thai Cont’ Monstera back in 2024 and it was itty bitty, ended up growing a lot more leaves within a month which is the right photo. But after I repotted it to a bigger pot because I noticed he was root bound, I may have gone way too big in size because I got a little too happy 😅 Now, Stellar just has one of his original leaves that looks super sad and mellow, and just recently pushed out a new leaf this past month. How can I help him?? He’s one of my first dream plants so i really want to help him thrive. Yes, he’s watered throughly with filtered water like he loves. Yes, theres drainage. Yes, he’s in good light and yes, he’s warm. :(

    hi hi, when you repot, did you untangle or mess with the roots? My experience with these is if you repot and touch the roots, they get REALLY grumpy, especially if it was root bound. If this happened, you’ll just have to wait for the roots to settle again. The leaf that is still left looks like it’s standing firm so hopefully, it’s done throwing tantrums.

      When i repotted i did untangle the roots a bit since he was quite root bound. And looking at what he’s in now since its transparent, i can see the roots have been growing more again. I really hope he’s just having a hissy fit 😭

      got my fingies crossed for you that it’s ok now! Usually if you can see new root growth, it’s finally settled down. In the future just remember that some plants spend their whole life building their foundation (their root structure) before they can put up their walls and windows (their leaves.) If you mess with the foundation, then you can’t build your walls - gotta make sure that base is strong first.

    When the pot is large for a monstera, it tends to put its energy into growing roots instead of leaves to fill out the pot, which is likely why you haven’t seen growth above ground. If it’s looking healthy and still putting out leaves, however slowly, then hopefully it’s just concentrating on its root system and will go back to producing leaves faster when it’s ready 🤞

      Ok awesome! I was wondering if it was this or a bigger problem, but I’m so happy my fears are now put to ease knowing its just this ^^ Tysm!

    I just came in here to say I do the same water-jug pots!! I had no idea I was not alone! They're so useful lol

      Yes!!! I love recycling water jugs into pots for my plants!! I usually cut it in half, take the nozzle part off and use the bottom part as a water watch. Its so useful!!
