Due to pests, I am chopping up my monstera and hoping to propagate. I cut 2 leaves with a node and arial roots. Whilst I was neeming (plant verb😁) I noticed this browning under one of them. Any ideas as to what it is and should I even try to propagate it?

    This is what thrips damage looks like. The brown spots are where the thrips have chewed and tried to place their eggs. I personally wouldn’t try to root that section but it’s not bad to - you just have to be mindful that that leaf may have a bunch of eggs in it.

      I sprayed it with water, then Dawn (power wash lol) and then neemed the heck out of it. If I see anything in the morning light I will toss it.. thanks

      Just a heads up that those products aren’t effective in treating the eggs because they are embedded into the tissue. :) good luck!
