Botanical Hack
My newest leaf on my Philodendren florida was a bit smaller than the previous leaves so I suspected it was root-bound. I pulled it out and indeed it was. I loosened up a bunch of the roots and repotted with chunky mix. I left almost all of the original soil, because I put it in a bit of an oversized pot. I will focus watering more towards the center where the denser soil is and the outer perimeter of chunky soil, which will still get some water, can help wick any excess water away (this is an experiment btw). With the excess size of the pot, if I water the whole pot normally, I risk over watering. I have my finger and a water gauge stick to help get it right.

Finally got my hands on this beauty from my local Walmart for $40! All of them had some webs at the base of the plants so I got her out of her soil, showered her down and treated with neem oil. Into quarantine she goes but I can’t stop staring 😍🪴

My pink princess randomly sprouted this huge leaf. I’m such a proud mama! ❤️

I just got a grow light to help with the damp, dreary winter in the mountains! After battling mealybugs and scale, I think my babes are finally at a healthy place— with exception to my pink caladium who I haven’t quite figured out how to please. Her roots are gorgeous tho! My croton was so weepy, but after a heady repot and a shower, the mealybugs are gone and she’s perked right up! Happy grow season y’all!
