Oh, wow. That’s awesome! Do you have any tips to get it to bloom so much? Or any fertilizer recommendations? 😃
0 Mi piaceUh, neglect?! I've had this one since at least 2020. Currently potted in epiphytic orchid mix of bark, perlilte, and charcoal, no soil at all. Sitting in front of a west facing window with light filtering shade. I use just liquid miracle grow for tropical plants on plantas recommended schedule. House Plant Journal has an article called Schlumbergera Blooming: Most Accurate Tips. Living in a hundred year old house kinda naturally allows for temperature fluctuating during the seasons and I guess it just naturally gets less daylight. It's in my dining room so it never gets periods of complete darkness but I have stored it in a closet before to give it darkness.
3 Mi piaceGot it. I do love when a plant thrives on neglect. 😊 My peperomia obtusifolias are like that. Thanks so much for such an in-depth response! 😃
2 Mi piaceThis really is my favorite plant. I've tried so many things but it really does best just letting it be. I have a 2nd I bought in the fall that is attempting a 2nd round of buds too but it's also trying to grow new segments so it's not as full this round.v
1 mi piaceI recently bought one for myself, but my great-aunt was gifted one a little over a year ago, and I’ve been taking care of it for her, so I’ve been trying to learn the ropes with these. You’ve got a beautiful favorite plant 😊 It’s pretty hard for me to pick a sole favorite out of my collection, but if you’re looking for any other succulent-like flowering houseplants, this is my ‘Shady Lady Mae’ Goldfish Plant. I keep her in Espoma’s cactus mix, I let her completely dry between waterings, and change out her Osmocote Fertilizer Pellets whenever I repot her. It doesn’t seem to take much effort or fertilizing to get these guys to flower. Highly recommend picking one up if you ever spot one.
1 mi piaceThis is another flowering favorite. It’s not a fan of an aggressive repot, but other than that, it was surprisingly quite easy to get this one to flower. This is a Mona Lisa Lipstick Plant. And this one has a very pretty cousin in the Thai Pink Passion Lipstick Plant. Highly recommend looking up the flowers for that one. They’re a very sweet, almost cherry blossom pink version of this plant 🌸 I rescued my Pink Passion from a Lowe’s and am dying to get it to flower someday.
