starting off with my bottom watering pictures! currently my favorite way to water my plants. . Syngonium, Maranta, Pilea, Philodendron, Scindapsus, Sedum, Tradescantia, Hoya, Monstera!

    So to bottom water you just grab a Tupperware and fill with water and put ur plants in? How does it not get root rot??

      I let the plants sit in the water for 30 minutes to an hour. bottom watering allows the plants root system to take up as much water as it needs. Capillary action is what the roots use to draw the water up.

      it takes away the guesswork of wondering how much water my plants need. similar to a self watering pot, just a temporary version.

      oh no! That would definitely lead to rot or some sort of fungal infection without proper semi-hydro substrate.

      I certainly do! Unless I’ve freshly repotted something or the soil is really really dry (both cases I too water into a resovoir and then let the plants sit bottom water with the water that drained) and of course I’m not an expert but I find it easier than top watering. plus i’ve had a fungus gnat problem and bottom watering keeps the topsoil dry!

    Is there a reason if you just repotted something why you don't?

      I usually top water if something’s just been repotted because it’s a faster way to make sure that soil gets drenched. fresh soil doesn’t have any moisture in it. whereas soil that’s been watered before is already used to being wet

      I only have some succulent cuttings that are rooting on top of soil right now but I do also bottom water those!
