Picked these two peperomias up from Ott’s Exotic Plants. I was so excited to find this peperomia caperata cayenne, then spotted this huge peperomia frost for only $14. The caperata cayenne’s name is Renee, but I’d love to hear any name suggestions for the frost. So far, the possible ones I can come up with are Gwen, Talullah, Erin, Riley, Jamie, Lydia, Eva, Mia, Michelle, Saorise, or Siobhan. TIA for any help in figuring out what I should name this one!

It’s very rare for me to leave there without picking up at least one new peperomia 😂 I was actually there yesterday for an interview, but the day before, I came in to see their newest arrivals and made a beeline for their peperomias. 💚

I could see her being an Emma… 🤔 or maybe an Emily too…I’ll add it to the list of contenders! 👍

Hi Adrian, I am going to be just 10 minutes from Ott’s on Monday and Tuesday because of work and I’m thinking of getting a cayenne caperata. She’s gorgeous and I kept wishing I had got one, and since I’ll be in the area I guess I can make room for just one more! I was wondering if you had trimmed the stem offshoots off of Renee? Is it OK to trim them? I also posted about finding a weed in my pepperspot this morning. It was a very difficult weed to pull out and it did minor damage to the plant. Should I do anything else to treat it, or just monitor for the weed to reappear? Thanks for all the advice and expertise you are providing to our peperomia fan club!

It’s definitely ok to trim them 👍 (if by offshoots you mean new leaves, or the flowers. Lots of folks don’t like the flowers and just snip them off at the base. I’m currently trying to see if I can get any seeds from the flowers to start baby plants from them. I’ll let you know how that goes) I like propagating mine by sticking the ends in soil if they’re healthy cuttings. As for weeding, maybe you could try getting a pair of tweezers to pull the weed out 🤔. I haven’t experienced that with a plant at Ott’s yet. If the tweezers don’t work, perhaps just snip some of it off and hope it dies off so you can pluck it out later once it’s dried up. It might be easier to snip off what you can and monitor for the time being.
