hi everyone, i have a probably dumb question but i just bought this moisture meter and i wasn’t sure if the zones as stated on the back of the box indicate that the plant needs watering or if it doesn’t.

Holy moly that looks confusing. I just use the front reading.

oh wow, having terrible flashbacks on trying to use one of these! I just use a chopstick now. I almost killed all of my plants with one of these. hope yours works better than mine did! if all else fails, grab yourself a chopstick!

Why chopsticks?

because they’re a basically free way to check the moisture of your soil. you dip the chopstick in and when you pull it out, you can see how wet the chopstick is or how wet the soil is. I put my finger at the base of the soil when the chopstick is all the way in the pot and when I pull it out, you can easily see and feel the soil.

i like my moisture meter because it’s also a light meter! i don’t know about this one, but i can tell you that the plants listed are the ones you would water once they reached that zone.

I tend to water most of my plants when it hits the 3-4 zone. be mindful that at some point the thing will stop working so buy a new one. They are cheap and so far works the best for me. If Planta tells you a plant loves water then i would water in the 5-6 zone.
