When you water, make sure you SOAK it completely
2 Mi piaceSince it’s a prayer plant, it’s thing is for it’s leaves to fold up at night like human hands during prayer. But just in case, make sure your not overwatering it, you need to keep the potting mix moist at all times! Another way to keep this plant healthy is to use rainwater. make sure you have a good drainage hole too. Don’t water too much in winter though. Your leave tips look a little brown, so I would try misting the plant daily as well.

Prayer plants/marantas are nyctinastic, but the leaves move up and down with the light; if the leaves are curling like OP’s that can be a sign of dehydration/poor draining soil/too much of a draft or whatever else.

For me, my marantas leaves were yellowing and curling bc she was extremely pot bound from the nursery (and when I cleaned off the hard water stains the vinegar/water mixture was a *tad* too strong for the leaves 😅).

And if you don’t have rainwater, leave your tap water out for a couple days for some of the chemicals to escape. Yes, tap water is full of bad stuff.

So I have a thriving prayer plant, their leaves do not roll up like this usually. They’ll “fold” together, but it’s leaf to leaf, not rolled up on itself like this. Looks to me like it’s in desperate need of water. Check the soil, if it’s dry, give it a nice lukewarm shower. Fully drench the soil and the leaves in water, let it drain off, then mist daily or every other day depending on the humidity in your area.

Are you watering the calathea with distilled or filtered or rain water? They are sensitive to lime in tap water, and eventually if watered with tap, the lime and minerals will build up around the roots, leading to the plant showing symptoms of being underwatered because even though you are watering appropriately, the roots are so caked with these minerals that they can’t absorb it, so they will seem dehydrated.
