Ugh why did I do this to myself? 🤦🏻‍♀️ Her beauty overrode my reason at the greenhouse today - I know if I look away for 5 mins she’ll brown to a crisp. 😆

Hey I am a new at ferns and I was wondering if any of you had some good tips and type of ferns you would recommend to be housed inside?

I love micro ferns!!! These are resurrection plants and they open flat and turn green when watered. Otherwise they form a little brown ball. They are not dead.

Hi all. I’ve struggled with this fern for over a year. It always ends up with burnt tips or drying leaves. Any suggestions? It gets watered once a week now in the winter and more often in the summer. It is close to the window but not in direct light. It is actually doing much better in the winter than in the summer. I’m in Toronto, Canada.

My poor Fern has been through it. I have overwatered it then I forgot I had it and drowned him in water again and so on 🫣 i was ready to throw him out but after cutting off all dead ends and keeping him under a glass dome I found 2 tiny new growths between the roots. Since then I cut off the remaining dead roots an repotted him in a smaller pot with perlite and moss and placed him back under a dome. Nothing peeked through the moss yet so my question is : I do have a heating pad for seeds would that help him recover quicker?

Hello I'm new to the planting community we bought this fern 2 weeks ago he is in my bedroom my window is big so he get lights but there is still leaves that look like they are dying. I use fertilizer sticks and spray down everyday and bottom water once a week for an hr. Is this normal?

I just received this kangaroo fern from a nursery. Are these roots that are coming out here, and does that mean it needs to be repotted? There are no roots coming out of the bottom drainage holes. But I didn’t want to pull it out of the nursery pot to check the root ball if I don’t need to shock it so soon after it arrived here.

Hi! This is Birdie, my bird nest fern. I think I’ve been overwatering her (Planta Dx agreed) so I’ve been being more careful about checking soil and I’ve moved her into a slightly brighter spot. I’m wondering if I should remove these brown parts of the leaves or just leave them be? Thank you! 😊

I recently inherited this sorry looking maidenhair fern that had been seriously neglected. Following the care advice on here we finally have some green shoots!! Do I trim back the old growth now or let it do its thing? Even though the old leaves are dry/dead I don’t want to shock it.

I got this guy yesterday, and I watered him just to make sure. Some of his leaves are curled and he’s getting a decent amount of light (it’s winter). Any tips?

Hello Fern Friends! Please help with my Boston Fern. Leaves began drying and falling. I follow Planta’s recommendation of misting and watering. Just cut a lot of the dead leaves.

Hi y'all! I brought my plumosa fern/asparagus fern home from college and placed it somewhere darker than where it was before, not really thinking about it. The bottom leaves soon started yellowing and dying off, so I moved it to a window with more light about a week ago thinking that may help, but still haven't seen any real difference, but I'm also impatient and maybe I haven't waited long enough. Is this a lighting issue? Does it need to be repotted? Also should I trim back the dead leaves? Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks!

Spores on my heart fern in my terrarium. Have had heart fern in my collection for about 5 years and this is the first time it has produced spores.

I had to behead my Boston fern a couple months back due to a heavy infestation and basically start from the beginning. I also refreshed the soil and chopped back anything dried up and dead that was left over from the chopping. It’s been in my greenhouse which gets approx 90-100% humidity and sits under the grow light attached to the top but I’ve seen no change whatsoever. Is there any hope?

Mounted 3 new platycerium species. Platycerium Ridleyi dwarf, Platycerium Ridleyi and Platycerium Madagascariense. Last photo is my regular Staghorn fern that was mounted this past summer and has grown exponentially since.
