The first flowers on my nepenthes’ favorite companion, Haraella Odorata (Retrocallus)! I’ll try to get some better shots. Surprisingly hard to get decent photos, and they’re very delicate. I know I definitely need to refresh the spagnum it’s in and there’s a bit of white something growing on the wood mount-I have poured hydrogen peroxide over it, used fungicide everything I can think of and it’s unchanged oh well. Conditions are 65f at night 75f during the day, 12hrs indirect bright full spec, and very importantly humidity stays over 60%. I water whenever the roots looked silvery or the spag dried out sometimes it’s everyday. Very easy going despite being a bit picky about humidity. 🖤

Dendrobium ‘Kyle Qunital’ This one has been in bloom for two years with no rest. It really started ramping up and pushing out flowers this month. Just covered in blooms. It’s lovely and I am happy it’s so happy but… I have noticed they have an odor. Kinda like bug spray. I am reminded of the old Raid commercials every time I get a whiff of them. At least it doesn’t smell like rotted meat. So that’s a win?

I recently got gifted this beautiful baby by a friend! I am brand new and a stranger to orchids so I have to say she’s a little intimidating. I wanna keep her alive as long as possible. Any advice and any must-knows you wanna throw out there for a first time orchid lady? I would appreciate any advice at all cause she’s so pretty!

I need to repot this old lady of mine! She has been a beauty, but didn’t produce many blooms this year. So I think it’s repotting time. WHAT IS THE BEST POTTING SOIL for an orchid. TIA for any info offered. 😊💚🪴

I don’t know if you guys remember my prev post but I got 2 orchids that were on their way out from a neighbor . One is doing great 1st pic the 2nd one not so much 2nd pic as of today . I’m not really sure what to do here . Do I cut the leaf off & treat it different ? I added the 3rd pic so you can see the roots . I did remove a few that were a little squishy I’m a noob to orchids but don’t think that’s a good sign for any plant . I did look on line & it’s usually about orchids without roots so I’m not really sure where to go from here since it has roots . For the record I’ve only been watering when the roots look grey/white . Ty in advance. Last pic is the before of both

Don’t give up! We have had this orchid for about 3 years. It was not in the best shape when we got it and it has not done anything since. We continued to care for it for years AND there’s a new leaf growing! I couldn’t believe it! I had to stare at it for 10 minutes convincing myself it was really happening. So happy we did not give up! Note- she needs a little dusting 🙃

Pic for reference. We’ve had a couple posts lately about spots on zygopetalum leaves. I’ve moved mine out of the window it had been in to reduce some of the light it had been getting, and sprayed with Garden Safe brand ‘Fungicide 3’ twice, a week between treatments. So far, I haven’t noticed any spread, particularly on the young leaves unfurling from the newest pseudobulb… I may do one more treatment this week.

Hi what kind of orchid is mine, the store tag says:brasidium golden gamine, a reliable app I use (PictureThis) told me it was a clamshell orchid I want to put it in water culture and I’m looking for guidance on that.

Hey! So I recently got a plant let of a ghost orchid! Ooo rare So I’m wondering what’s the best way to mount orchids. My questions are mainly what moss to use, and does it matter if it’s alive or dried, and what bark will last a long time without rotting. It takes several years to mature so I need a mount that won’t rot. Thanks!

Hey everyone, I’m new here. I just bought my first Cattleya orchid yesterday at Lowe’s. This is how her roots are looking. The leaves themselves are green and sturdy. I want to give this one the best chance so I wanted to know any of your guy’s tips on watering.

Does anyone know, when your orchids start growing new stalks in preparation for new flowers, can you control which way they grow? Mine seem to like to grow horizontal. So I’m wondering, when they’re from the store, why and how do they grow vertically? Do they manually make them grow that way or is it dependent on the plant itself?

Any recommendations on how I can revive this orchid I found on the Lowe’s clearance rack? The top of the stem was completely dead, but there is a small new growth coming out so I cut right above that. Should I just chop the whole thing off so it can focus energy on regrowing roots? The leaves are really floppy too ☹️
