Gastrochilus obliquus is flowering for me. Mounted this orchid on a piece of driftwood and put it in my terrarium awhile ago and it seems to like it there.

My orchid has lost its flowers (two are still there but they are dead) and I’m planning on cutting the inflorescence. But I want to make sure I do this correctly. The close up picture shows where the flowers were (those are all used nodes). The second image shows where the leaves end. In the third image the whole plant is shown. Where should I cut?

I have a happy little orchid but I’m wondering if I should repot and when is the best time to do that. If you look closely at the picture you can see roots are starting to poke through the holes. There are a lot of new roots coming but I don’t see any flower stems. I bought a new orchid pot but that is about twice the size of the current one. Any advice is appreciated!

I just got an orchid! Last one that I had died, any tips on keeping it alive?

Hey I’m a new orchid owner and my orchid just developed drooping leaves and it looks like the flowers are starting to wilt. I have her in Better-Gro special orchid potting mix and I’ve lined the roots with Better- Gro orchid moss. My house stays between 67-71 degrees and I mist her every few days. She stays in the window sill in the morning before the direct sun hits and on the table about 4ft away from a tall window in the afternoons. As you can see in the pictures some of the flowers are starting to wilt. How do I get her healthy again??

More arrivals… I may have gone SLIGHTLY overboard over the holidays. Only one more set on the way

I received a new orchid as a lovely gift and really want to help it thrive. It seems very healthy at this time but I’m sure I need to repot it from the store plastic container it presently lives in. Where can I get the best advice for when and how to repot this poor baby that has been entrusted to my care?

Advice wanted! A few weeks ago I accidentally left water sitting in the outer pot for a couple of days. I let the plant dry out for a couple weeks or so before checking the roots and watering again. Since then I’ve noticed leaves yellowing at the base of one stalk—today a second stalk. Also, it gets about 8-10 hrs directly under a grow light with my other orchids. Any suggestions?

I have not repotted this plant. It is still in the plastic drainage insert it came in. I did move it to a larger outer container with no drainage but dump the water if ever any is inside. The leaves started turning yellow after I moved it to the larger outer container. Should I move it back to the original outer container with no outer circulation? Added original pix.

Have been experimenting with mounted orchids and it’s going well so far. Down side is I have to water them every day. Added a bit more moss today to help with some areas drying too quickly. Do you have experience with mounted orchids? Tips?

Hi all. I’m new to Planta and have a question. I use plastic pots with slits for my orchids. Is it best to choose Planta’s “plastic pots” option for these plants, even though the slits allow for airflow? I don’t want to throw off Planta’s watering calculations. Thanks!

Phalaenopsis ‘Gan Lin Rosa’ The champ is back! Not as many blooms as last time but still respectable. I love how this one starts out with a touch of rust in the petals that gradually fades letting the bold magenta shine through.

Some of the new arrivals! The rest are on their way! Very impressed with their condition considering that they were shipped in the middle of winter! 😀
