My orchid lost all of its blossoms and is looking sad what should I do
Happy Holidays everyone. I am very new to growing orchids. I got this zygopetalum orchid “red bird” about two weeks ago. It shipped from a reputable nursery but i was worried about shipping in the cold. It looked nice as seen in the picture with the bear behind it. I transplanted it using an orchid soil mix and gave it water. The pot drains very well. There is a humidifier in the room that keeps humidity at 50-70%. The plant is a foot away from a large window facing east that gets indirect light most of the day. However, it is not looking good as seen in the other photos. One of the flowers dropped off. What am I missing? Help. JohnD
Phalaenopsis ‘Gan Lin Rosa’ This year’s show has just begun. The blooms have proven to be very long lived. Last year they lasted for 6 months. The 1 1/2” flowers start out as a ruddy magenta framed by a thin white edge. Over the next several months, the blooms will fade to a lovely orchid. Such an enjoyable and reliable bloomer.
My phaelenopsis just lost its last leaf. Is it dead now? The roots are still good. The leaf just came off while I tried to move it (mostly by the leaf).
Hey! New to this group. After my phal lost its flowers, I cut back the stem between the nodes. That was maybe 1-2 months ago but I haven’t seen any new growth since then. Wondering if I should fertilize or something, or just keep being patient? My goal is to keep it alive, and flowering again would be ideal. The internet said that if I cut between the nodes, there is a chance it will flower again on the same spike, but I have yet to see anything. Thanks!
new plant parent here. do the roots look like this after overwatering? i watered it too soon like a dummy and i want it to be okay.
Excited to add this new orchid to my collection. Any advice ?
MY CATTLEYA IS BLOOMING!!!
The first bloom opened while we were away visiting family during the holidays. A lovely little surprise to come back to! The inflorescences stayed green after the last bloom so I left them. I was super happy to see them start to wake up last month. Not sure of what type it is, but I think it’s similar to the Phal Yaphon Perfume ‘Yellow’ without the perfume. I’m all ears if anyone has any suggestions.
I was gifted this beauty this year 🎄
Best early Christmas present EVER!!!
Best early Christmas Present EVER!!!!
My orchids are in bloom!!!! The white one took a lot of patience — it was just a long spike for months. So glad I held in there and resisted the urge to cut it and give up.
I love my kitten but just sometimes. Waah 😭 Has it got any chance of opening do you think???
New blooms!!!!!!!!!!!! Opening!!!!!!!! I’ll post when it’s open!
I didn’t expect this guy to bloom for another year or two. There are 2 spikes, with only 4 or 5 buds so far, but I am thrilled that I got to see it flower at all this year. It may be my all time favorite phal.
So my beautiful orchid is finally down to two blooms and I have a question for more experienced orchid owners. When you first get an orchid after the blooms fall do you fully cut off the flower spike and restart completely for the next bloom cycle or just until it’s green? I’ve seen people do both and am unsure which I am going to do. On one of the flower spikes I have already lost all the blooms and I cut it back to in between two nodes that were closed with everything still green and the top of it has started browning. My second floor spike is still green but it also has two blooms on it still. I have a phalaenopsis if that helps with my question about care.
Hi. A little bit new to this forum. I just repotted my Zygonisia and am dealing with this. Has anyone seen it before, or have any suggestions for solving the problem? Thanks!
I need help! I am a new orchid parent. I have lots to flowers on my orchid but two of the last four buds fell off. The plant looks healthy, roots are nice and green. I’m not sure if I did something wrong.
Please help! I got this small “Sharry Baby” oncidium in July. The pseudobulb on the left sort of bulged out the side of a leaf while growing. I chalked it up to adjusting to a new home but now it looks like its next pseudobulb is doing weird stuff. That one has emerged while in my care and recently the inner most leaf yellowed and turned brown. And now another one is too. It has 2 new pseudobulbs (one shown and one on the other side) so I think it’s not unhealthy. Could there be something wrong with it (or more likely that I’m doing wrong)??? I just want to make sure the newest pseudobulbs don’t do the same thing… Thanks in advance for any of your help!
