Looking for advice on repotting my orchid. I received my orchid as a gift last year, however hadnât quite known how to care for it until I got this app! Because of this - itâs never been repotted and the roots look desperate for more space. Does anyone have any recommendations for best pots for orchids? Also best way to repot without shocking or damaging the orchid? I only have my windowsills to store my plants at the moment so I canât size up too much. Thank you!

These photos donât show it as much as in person, but I received these two small orchids for my birthday last week and their leaves are a different color. I attached a photo of my yellow orchid that is doing great and it has dark green leaves that are very healthy. The two little one have leaves that are a very light lime color. They are a bit flimsy also. Any thoughts on how to help them?
I moved my orchid to water after hearing othersâ success stories with this. I cut off what I believe are the dead roots and am changing the water daily while the rest of the soil comes off. But Iâm not sure if there are other roots that need to go. Some are pale yellow and/or have black spots. Any advice what should stay and what should go?
The flowers on my mini moth havenât opened and Iâm starting to think that they wonât now. Any ideas why this might happen and is there anything I can do? Sheâs been in this limbo for a couple of months now which is worrying as my regular moth orchid has opened up just fine x
Long story short I snapped off the flower spike to this orchid a couple months ago flowers and all (you can see the break at the apex). It said, âI donât care if youâre a dummy, have two spikes instead.â When you mess up it doesnât always end up being a tragedy.
I wanted to know if my orchid is doing fine, since last week the flowers have been falling off and drying up. I also donât know if the leaves look fine.
Hey so i repotted my orchid before realizing it could hurt it and send it into shock and drop a ton of flowers, well it did tjat but its okay and it kept 3 flowers still thriving on one of the shoots or whatever its called, the other one which dropped all flowers now is turning brown and purple at the base and idk if there is any correlation but there are nats flies all around that idk where they came from since this is an indoor plant. any suggestions on anything i could do to improve health?
Can I let my orchid soak in water overnight? Like just fill the pot with water, cover the drainage holes and keep it in the bathroom till morning? Itâs so INCREDIBLY dehydrated for some reason, literally dying because of it.
I have got to stay out of the stores. There are too many plants needing a good home.
Hello all! Iâm somewhat new to orchids. This had one spike when my husband got it for me. So please correct me if Iâm wrong but is this THREE new spikes?? Cause my excitement is through the roof and I need to manage my expectations if Iâm wrong đ
How often do you fertilize am Orchid?
I need help ASAP I have this orchid and itâs barely been hanging on by a thread throughout the years like itâs gotten root rot multiple times and all that stuff. But now Iâve finally repotted it with high-quality orchid soil after disinfecting the plant and covering the chopped off roots with cinnamon in a pot with drainage holes. I have no idea whatâs wrong with it now. WATERING: Iâve been watering it only when the top inch is dry and I water with 1:3 water and hydrogen peroxide. It seems to be really dehydrated and I even fully submerged the little roots left in water for 15 minutes and put it back into its pot. The top inch becomes dry before Planta even suggest it and Iâm afraid itâll get root rot again. BUGS: The only bugs affecting it is fungus gnats. LIGHT: itâs 5-7 feet away from a south-facing window and we really havenât been getting much light here recently. I have a feeling itâs because of the proximity to the south facing window. Iâm so confused?? Itâs also blooming right now despite its conditions (the leaves keep turning yellow and I keep having to chop âem off) I watered this orchid yesterday/before yesterday. I think this is it, itâs going to die and Iâve become soooo attached to it T-T
Has anyone here ever tried to propagate an orchid? Thinking about using them for centerpieces/wedding favors next year, and if I could create my own little babies that would be awesome!
Hi all!! I rescued an orchid from Loweâs a couple of months ago that what appears to be sunburn. After I got it I accidentally broke one of the two stemsđ„Č and used shears to clip off the dead ends (this is what YouTube videos had told me to do). However Iâm realizing itâs not like humans and once itâs sunburned you gotta clip it off completely. Sheâs got new growth (yayyyđ„°) both on her stems and 2 new leaves due to a new orchid fertilizer I bought. My question is, do I clip the bad leaves completely off so my orchid can put more energy into HEALTHY growth and flowering? I included pics of her little baby leaves and new stem.
Got my first orchid the other day, I love her!
Hello All, Iâm sharing updates to 3 of my posts because I am so excited at their progress: 1. JJ has been repotted and is doing well. Canât wait to give to my future SIL! 2. I left the plug in the Moth Orchid an it is still in full bloom. 3. My momâs Venus lady slipper has bloomed (I didnât match the pot quite right). Itâs darker than I thought. Apparently this is not the same as my mother childhood LS but she loved it and Iâll keep looking. Last but not least - thank you all for the feedback - my knowledge and Plants have benefited greatly!!
Oncidium âHeaven Scentâ The flowers on the first spike are all open now. The other spike will probably open in a couple more weeks. This year will be a long show đ
How long should it take for an orchid thatâs wrinkled from dehydration to recover after watering? In the pot there are two soil types, in the center is a sphagnum mix that was in the original pot from the store. When I repotted last year I used a bark based orchid mix. The sphagnum mix is thoroughly damp and has been so for about a week, but Iâve seen no sign of recovery.
New to orchids! What are some tips to help promote new flower growth?
