Got this beauty last year! Look at that beautiful bloom!

Last of my orchid show sale haul. This one didn’t have an id, but I’m pretty sure I’ve narrowed it down to a type of oncidium maculatum, maybe specked spire? It has a lovely scent, and there’s a new flower spike still growing.

Paphiopedilum delenatii Alba variety. The bloom was obviously a little past its prime when I got it at the post orchid show sale, but the leaves are beautiful, and she looks pretty healthy overall.

First boom of spring! I’ve always been afraid to get an orchid, but I finally took one home last year. I’m pretty proud that this one is not only alive, but actually healthy.

My moth orchid putting out her annual blooms

I’m giving a shot at mounting orchids onto another plant for the first time. Wrapped the roots around the branches of my dragon tree and covered in moss. What is the best option in Planta for “pot type” so that I get the best schedule? No pot?

My orchid grows very long leaves, but is unsuccessful in growing flowers. I water it and fertilize regularly. What can I do to encourage it to grow flowers?

hey hey i don’t know too much about plants I’m definitely still learning and I’m having trouble determining whats bad and normal for orchids. The first photo is about the white roots, is that normal or is it similar to mold? i checked the roots that are under the soil and they look okay except for that one that it sort of translucent in the other photo. Secondly there is a piece out of my leaf i don’t know how it got there it kind of just appeared. The picture with the flowers is showing that it still seems healthy in terms of up there and theres even a new plant growing from the root. If anyone could hive me a few pointers or let me know if somethings up that’d be sooo helpful! Thank you!

I just got this Vanilla Plant the other day. I saw that some thing say it should be humid so I put my humidifier beneath it To hopefully help the plant, but since there’s no option on the app to say it’s next to a humidifier I don’t know how that effects watering. Can anyone help, I’m already really attached to my plant I don’t want to hurt it XD

Dendrobium Thrysiflorum bloomed today! It smells like your swimsuit when you were a kid and got out of the swimming pool… at least that’s what I think 🤣

Here’s another really cool one, the flowers are already fading, but this one had a tag, so I *think* it’s id’d correctly- Encyclia thienii x cordigera. I have one other Encyclia in my collection, but it’s much smaller, and it has more of a cane structure vs this pseudobulb structure. It’ll be interesting to watch it develop and bloom again.

Another recent acquisition from the post orchid show sale, this is the Beallara Snowblind ‘Sweet Spots’. The blooms are toward the end of their lives, and it’s pretty dehydrated, so I’ll cut the spike today. It’s my first Beallara. From my understanding, it takes similar care to the oncidiums I have. I’d love any additional advice though. Super fragrant, really beautiful.

so my orchid is currently very young, and i need help identifying if im watering her too much :( she already has some developed buds, but im afraid that her buds that are trying to grow aren't sprouting properly. im very inexperienced with plants, so ive just been misting her daily and hoping she'll develop properly. is there any way i can help more of her buds grow?

Got my first paph (Midori world dark green x Hilo sweet bean) at an orchid show a month ago and the flower spike is growing tall, but it’s not straight. It was straight when the spike was shorter. Is it normal to not be straight? Does it need to be staked? Should I repot it into a slotted orchid pot after the bloom is done? Or is a nursery pot with 4 drainage holes ok? I read these types of orchids are terrestrial. Do their roots prefer less air exposure? I bought paph orchid bark from repotme.com and various plastic pots, but I’m not sure what type of pot to use. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Just bought this orchid, wondering what type you all would classify her as

Oncidium flexuosum, no further identification on this one as far as cultivar name. All told this orchid is about 4 1/2 feet from bulbs to buds! No scent, but the prettiest little delicate flowers. A little dehydrated, but I think she’ll pull through.

I may have gone a little off the deep end at the Chicago Botanic Garden post orchid show sale. But how could I resist these stunners for TEN BUCKS EACH? (Full disclosure, most of the phalaenopsis are for other people- I’ll highlight my keepers in later posts as I repot etc.)

I’ve managed to successfully get seed pods on this beautiful pink orchid. Has anyone had any luck in getting the seeds to root by just scattering them in the pots of your already established orchids? The process of actually growing them is way too complicated for the time I have. I have 6 thriving orchids currently so I have many to scatter seeds in

Hi Orchid people! I recently bought my first moth Orchid, and I have a bit of a dillema here: I took a look at the pot, and it seems like it's potted in soil, instead of Orchid mix. I ordered the appropriate airy soil mix for orchids and will have it in a few days, but I've heard it's a bad idea to repot an orchid while it's flowering, which mine is, currently. Let me know if I can repot her as soon as I get the soil mix, or if I should wait it out until she drops the flowers. Thank you!
