Not sure if this is savable Maybe it's the end of the cycle not sure if they supposed to last more than one summer but if it can be saved, I would love to know how Should I pull it out to check the roots? They were once beautiful and now they slowly dying😢 I don’t know generally enough about the pot it in doesn’t have drainage holes I’m sure that’s not helping . Please help🤍🩷

Any tips with using leca for orchids? I somewhat understand how to transition the plant but unsure of the watering needs after.

Anybody know what that white patch is? What should I do?

Phalaenopsis violacea indigo ‘Jia Ho Blue Moon’ I have been waiting ages for this one to open. It’s been working on this bloom since April. All that time to cook up one flower, and it’s totally worth it. The bloom is small but has an intense color and a delicate scent. Reminds me of a cross between rose and iris. Orchids are so freakin rewarding. Happy Saturday!

I’ve never owned an orchid before, but a few days ago my mother in law came home with a phalaenopsis as a gift for me! Any tips or tricks for ensuring its survival? Aside from the one super dry root on top, all of the roots are green and healthy. Is it ok to cut off the bad portion of this one root or should I leave it? Additional info; I currently have it on my bathroom counter because I read that the humidity is good for orchids, and it’s in a clear plastic pot with drainage holes set on a drip tray. It seems to be potted in a chunky orchid bark mixture. There’s a skylight above that gives a good few hours of direct sunlight a day but is mostly sitting in bright indirect light or shade depending on cloud coverage. I bottom watered her yesterday by submerging the pot in a water-filled glass to right below the lip of the pot. I washed the glass after using it and plan to reuse it every time I water my orchid. After 10 minutes, I took the pot out and placed it on the drip tray, dumping the excess water in the tray every 10 min for 30 min. Immediately after placing the pot on the drip tray, I also used a cotton cloth to dry the base of the orchid because I read that they’re prone to rotting.

Hello! I rescued this orchid from Walmart about 3 years ago, and it hasn’t bloomed in 2 years… I have been desperately trying everything to do this plant some justice, but to no avail. I have all of these dark brown/black roots but they are not squishy, and when I cut one for science, it was still free on the inside. I suspect they are this color because I tried Water Culture, and while it hasn’t killed it, probably has made the poor plant sick. I also have this large growth within the roots that I have not found in any pictures or videos… Just would like some genuine advice about cutting roots, and the best potting situation. Thanks!

Yay! I finally got the proper pot for my Neofinetia Falcata “Kogane Nishiki” it looks so much better! Hope my Samurai is happy! A bit of history on this orchid. A long time ago, only the Samurai were allowed to own this plant. It was that sacred. It’s in this long pot because the roots are that long and stiff. I cannot wait for it to bloom!

Hello! Hoping this group can help - two of my orchids has developed blisters/bubbles on its leaves, one worse than the other. Is it sunburn? Something else? Thank you!!

Tolumnia Jairak Firm “Sweet Pink So very excited about this one. This is my second non-Phalanopsis orchid that I have bloomed this year. This one is a total beauty and I can’t begin to do it justice in my photos. No fragrance just a pretty bloom. This bloom has been fully out for 3 days so they last awhile. Lots more buds and secondary branch off main stem. Soooexcited. 😀

Anyone know why the edges of a phalanopsis would turn yellow? The three top most mature leaves are exhibiting this to some degree. I’ve had the plant for over four years. Its never exhibited any signs of variegation. It’s been in this northwest window for approx 3 months. Repotted 18 months ago using a media that is mostly bark with a little sphagnum mixed in. Not currently blooming.

Hey everyone, I just got these orchids from Amazon and am going to grow them without any media hopefully as I always end up with root rot otherwise. These are the names they provided: Tolumnia Jairak Flyer 'Ladybug', Vanda Apec Blue, Rhynchostylis Gigantea Cartoon, Oncidium Arthurara Sea Snake 'Unforgettable', Cattleya Ric. Atardecer Palmoreno Thongsuk Delight, Denobdrium Burana Jade x Emaron Gold. I was just hoping if anyone has any specific care recommendations for any of the plants :)
