Hey so i repotted my orchid before realizing it could hurt it and send it into shock and drop a ton of flowers, well it did tjat but its okay and it kept 3 flowers still thriving on one of the shoots or whatever its called, the other one which dropped all flowers now is turning brown and purple at the base and idk if there is any correlation but there are nats flies all around that idk where they came from since this is an indoor plant. any suggestions on anything i could do to improve health?

The gnat flies won’t hurt your plant, but they are annoying Based on the photos I’d say its just the reaction to repotting and nothing to be too concerned about. The spike that has gone completely brown you can cut at the very base. I does look like you might have it in too large of a pot though. Orchids do better when they are tighter in their pots, it also allows for you to be able to control its water levels better. If you are new to orchids some very important essentials to be successful: - medium its in is very important. Yours looks perfect 👍🏻 (as long its actually orchid bark all the way and not just on-top with sphagnum moss underneath - it can be very hard to manage correctly if you are new to orchids). - have it in an transparent orchid pot insert inside your decorative pot. It’ll have tons of holes and lots of drainage. Their roots need good air flow and for the medium to dry out some between watering. It also allows you to be able to see the roots, which you will use as your gauge on when it needs water :). - orchid roots are like sponges. A great way to water them is to fill the pot with water to just below the base if the leaves, allow it to sit for 10-15 minutes and then completely drain it all out. The roots you can see through the pot will become green when they’ve absorbed enough water. Yellow/white/grey ish roots means its time to water. - lots of bright indirect light. If both its spikes die, don’t worry. As long as the leaves/roots stay healthy it will regrow a flower spike when its ready (this can sometimes take a VERY long time).
