I repotted tiny. A second leaf is dying and a 3rd flower fell off. Well turns out, there were 2 orchids in 1 growing pot! I repotted with basic potting mix? I honestly don’t know hat I’m doing. Hoping to give these orchids the best life! (Orchid potting mix) *edited*

You definitely don’t want to use regular potting soil. You will want to get an orchid potting mix. The roots need lots of air flow.

Yes what she said. Get orchid bark and mix with perlite. That’s what I have one of mine in and she’s happy. I have three others in pon, semi hydro and they’re happy as well

This had bark and chips with charcoal. It’s pretty loose

Also, if you are repotting while in bloom, don’t be surprised when she drops her flowers. It’s ok- but definitely get it out of that soil- the roots will rot.

Also make sure the pot has air flow and lots of holes. A leaf drop is normal after repotting and flower drop is normal as well. I water mine with distilled or rain water and it’s doing great. I had a miracle grow orchid mix but ended up adding perlite because the mix was very moist. As long as the roots weren’t brown, squishy, and sometimes smelly your plant will be fine! In my opinion orchids are tough since my phal had complete root rot, spider mites, and was using the wrong kind of water at first 🤦‍♀️. I cleaned it up and helped it out now it’s growing a new leaf! Good luck

I appreciate the help!!! The roots were green and stiff. I use tap water and use the suggested fertilizing schedule. When repotting, there was mold in the roots. But it makes sense since the soil it was in would never dry out. I’ve been watering with tea tree oil in my watering can since.

Use the clear pot to help you water. If the bark looks like it may have water, you can hold off for a day or two. Water when it starts to look dry, ensure it has good ventilation in the side of the clear pot. Different temperatures in different houses & locations around the house will mean different times to water. I also find that when feeding, I don’t use the full strength of food mix, I always try to be under feeding with a slightly weaker food, just so I don’t over feed my orchids
