Help experts! I was gifted this orchid last spring and it stayed healthy for a long time. I did quite a bit of reading about them but it kinda went in and out of my brain with some outside stressors. We almost threw this little baby out but I just couldn’t! Tonight I was in my kitchen and noticed these buds!! Help me figure out what to do next to help bring “Fallon” back to her natural beauty!
She looks a bit dehydrated, and with it about to flower, your plant may need a LITTLE more frequency with water- but let her lead you. If the roots are silver, go ahead and water- if they are green, wait. You have no air flow holes in the clear plastic pot- so you don’t want to over do it and end up with root rot. You can clip off the old dried flower spike and the old dried leaf. I would also take a barely damp soft cloth or paper towel and gently wipe the tops of the healthy leaves. Be careful not to leave moisture in the crown or leaf joints on the stem. They have accumulated some dust that can prevent it from properly photosynthesizing. These couple of tasks will help freshen her up, but right now, you should kind of let her be. I wouldn’t do anything drastic until she is done blooming- but you will probably want to repot then.
