I want a moth orchid so bad, but my home has forced air and it’s quite dry, especially in the winter. Is it possible to keep a happy orchid in a dry home? Will it require a lot of care?

Well, you can always try. Phalaenopsis are much hardier than people think. To increase the humidity around the plant, take a small tray and put pebbles on it. Place the pot on the pebbles and put water in the tray. Change the water frequently and make sure the bottom of the pot doesn’t touch the water.

Absolutely. Everyone has to figure out the right medium/watering schedule for their own environment for orchids. People all over the world grow phalaenopsis- you definitely can.

Do you have a window in your bathroom?

I currently have an orchid in my home that has forced air. I keep the temperature around 60°F and have a couple humidifiers nearby that I run during the winter months. It seems to be doing well enough. If you’re concerned about the air, you could try placing it away from the vents or just close the vent that’s nearest to it.
