Pretty new to the Orchid community, but I’ve had this one for about 8 months, around month 3 or 4, all of the flowers slowly fell off. Everything I’ve read said to trim down the stem and just wait for re-bloom… My question is how long does re-blooming usually take? (Pictures are 6 months ago vs now) (I trimmed the stem about 2 months ago and it’s grown 2 inches since.)

It can also take some time to get acclimated to their new environment and new media (if you repotted it.) It looks like it’s growing new leaves for you- which is a great sign.

This can vary greatly. As long as its leaves/roots are healthy then just wait. I had one at home take 8 months and another at work take 2 years (but we’ve finally got blooms again!!). If that stalk is totally brown I would cut it off at the base. It won’t regrow. The plant will put out a new one when its ready.

Usually my orchids rebloom every January. Make sure that they’re in bright enough light or they won’t bloom. A lot of plants that people say can only tolerate bright indirect light can handle more direct light than you think. I have an orchid right in a south facing window and it blooms every year for me, just make sure you slowly move it closer to the window so it can acclimate.

I read that they rebloom after six weeks if you prune them back properly after the flowers have bloomed, but I’m looking at my orchids and not holding my breath. It took me two weeks to figure out the right light for them. They definitely weren’t light tolerant, so I chose a spot with filtered light and they did fantastic for months. So now I’m waiting to see what they’ll do next… 💚

In future you can trim the spike back to the first or second node from the top and they’ll often send out a second flush of flowers in the same season.
