Plant Father
after years and years of throwing spider plant seed pods back in the mother plants’ soil, i finally have some seeds that sprouted. i read online that the seeds are nearly impossible to sow intentionally and that only increased my determination. it seems to help if they are planted as soon as possible after the pod cracks. this spider plant was out on the porch this summer and i think the extra heat is what allowed them to germinate.

I have a silver satin pothos vine that I accidentally snapped the roots off of when repotting. I was given advice to cut the vine in half and place in water with plant food and vitamins till it grows more roots, so I put a couple drops of each solution into this jar. However I’ve noticed the solution getting cloudy and a little stinky and think I see mold? What am I doing wrong? Edges of leaf starting to look strange.

Help,
As you can see I’ve never taken this out of its original pot. She’s kept on growing and growing and I know I need to do something with her… I now have a new pot for her (me thinking this will solve it lol) but what do you experts suggest :) x

Sooo I foolishly watered my Monstera in the heat of the day in direct Texas sun and fried the stems to a hard crisp. It was pretty badly wilted but I really really hoped it would make a comeback. Today I accepted that if I want to save the bulk of this plant, it will need to be propagated, which I’ve never successfully done before.
So this is where it started and the prop set up. To my surprise, when I was cutting (between nodes as the YouTube video instructed) I found that it had started new growth beneath the burn sites, and the smaller plant was growing some new roots above the burn 🥹 I am very hopeful!!
Also, I had put the cuttings straight into water but a friend told me I should let them dry for a few hours first, and that I should cut the one that started new roots and let them continue growing in water, can anyone confirm??

They have been there for about 2 weeks now and I still see no new roots. I change the water out regularly. Is there anything else I can do or is just time now?

What’s the best way to propagate this dumb cane? Well… what’s left of it.
I thought it was done so I set it outside and it started to grow leaves.

Is this ready to be potted? I would’ve potted other water propagated cuttings with less roots by now, but this is my first time dealing with leca and my local plant shop keeps saying to wait. I’ll also be away for 5 days next week so I don’t know if I should wait until I come back? Or should I pot now? I’m also worried about shock and waiting too long, like if these roots get too used to leca and don’t take to transferring to soil well. Also, some of the roots look hairy like mold? Is that normal?

Hello! Looking to repot an orchid and pothos, they’re both in bark so I’m wondering what everyone’s preferred bark is/ successful replanting methods they’ve used for orchids!
Thank you!

Propagated these lime tree cuttings in July and transplanted in September after seeing some roots. Was starting to wonder if they were gonna survive but finally starting to see some new growth!

This plant is from my mom's house and she wants to propagate it. I don't know if you can propagate this type though, and I wouldn't know how to go about it. Any tips on propagation?

My jade prop isn’t rooting - any suggestions? I snipped it from my jade plant two weeks ago, dipped it in rooting hormone and placed outside at first, where the Phoenix sun was drying it out rapidly. It’s inside now but still no sign of root development. I’m worried about it drying up. Tips appreciated!

I am brand new to houseplants and all things green (so of course I have immediately jumped in at the deep end and now have 12 houseplants, somehow?!) This was my Grandma’s jade plant that started my journey. I realised that she had root rot from my overwatering (sorry friend) and in an effort to save her I took cuttings and have planted these in soil as YouTube said that this was the best method. After about a month, they’re now starting to grow roots- but out of the wrong nodes?! I have no idea if there are already roots in the soil, but the cuttings are also growing roots out of the soil and I have no idea what to do now. If anyone can advise I’d be grateful!

This may be a dumb question but I’ve never propagated anything from stems it’s always had some leaves on it. Once these have plenty of root and I place them in soil do I place them laying down the way they are in here or do I “stand them up”? I have some roots now but I want to make sure they have a stable root system before I transfer them.

For anyone tempted to get a Bonnie Curly, be aware. When it comes time for repotting it’s just short of a nightmare. It’s so curly and dense it’s almost impossible to see what you are doing so you don’t cover the leaf base where the plant should not be covered. I swear it took me a good twenty minutes to switch soil out.

Has anyone had any luck propagating haworthia cooperi? Mine keeps making pups but they keep withering and I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.

Has anyone had success propagating coffee plants? I am trying the same cutting for the third time now. 🤦♀️ I pulled off all except the top leaves, dipped the cutting in a little cinnamon, and stuck it in a four inch pot, which is the size it says to use online (not sure if i should have tho, since the soil pretty much never dried out). I watered it, misted it well, and put a plastic bag over it and stuck it under my grow light. Whenever I saw that all the condensation inside the bag was gone, I misted again. As long as I kept the bag on it, it stayed perky and even grew two new leaves, but if I took the bag off for any length of time it wilted. I kept it like that for several months and there was no root growth whatsoever. What am I doing wrong?

My first foray into soil propagation. I let the Jade callus for 72 hours, the Christmas Cactus 24 hours.
Soil is succulent mix with coco peat, perlite, charcoal, a bit of Mother Earth Groundswell. I misted before placing cuttings.
Knock on wood this works!
