Wanting to chop and prop my Batwing Begonia anyone have experience with these hard stem begonias. Iāve read that it will make it bushier, but Iām scared! Sheās my favorite!
iām propagating a bromeliad pup! the mother plant has always been on the verge of death, but in the middle of awful root rot produced this little guy! i took it from the mother plant and iām trying to propagate it. the mother bromeliad was the first plant i ever bought, so iām hoping the pup pulls through :)
I want a few leaves from my jade plant to propagate in another pot (none have fallen off for a while) but the bottom 4 big ones are dropping a lot. Could I pull or cut them off ? Or should I just wait?
Save your wine bottles!!! Dark, tall bottles provide a great propagation container. They protect the roots from the sun and also allow for the roots to grow down.
Hi! Does anyone have experience with crape myrtles? I planted mine as a tiny cutting (like an inch tall) and it rooted and was growing great until recently when it just stopped. And then it started wilting and dropping its lower leaves. I repotted it thinking that might be the problem but I havenāt seen and improvement. It stopped growing a little while after I moved and itās getting less sun then it was, could that be the problem?
These little cuties are coming right along ā¤ļø
update on my cucumbers!! iāve been growing them in their separate containers for about a week and a half now, and the one in water is growing much faster than the ones in the dirt. but overall they are doing pretty well! iām very excited! they smell good too
Has anyone succeeded in using the notching method to promote branch growth on their rubber tree? And if so, how long till you started to see any signs that it worked?
Trying to propagate some of these succulent leaves. About half have been in here for over a month⦠the other half I put in within the last week. I havenāt been watering them at all and yesterday I put them out in the hot sun for half the day. Thatās when most turned brown⦠I read that drying them out first can work⦠Any advice? Are these ok? How do I get more consistent prop success? Thanks!!!
Iāve been propagating a Chinese evergreen in water. Two nodes have started growing roots and easily broken when I went to change water. Any insights? Am I doing something wrong? Are they generally weak roots? Iāve considered grabbing some rooting hormone and finishing the process that way.
Iām thinking about giving one of my fiddle leafās the chop and prop treatment. Iāve never done this with a FLF before; would I prop the top cut in water? Water is what I usually put my props in.
Iāve decided only to do water and pearl propagation. Here they are now. (I know it is so dirty) š„š„
Hi alll! All my plants are babyās Iāve made from other plants. The one Iām trying to do at the moment Iām a tad confused about and was wondering if anyone had any advice. Thereās not much to see but Iāll attach a photo anyway and update if anything changes but itās a string of hearts propagation Iāve done it with a stem cutting before and worked fine despite a few hiccups now and then but I took something from a different string of plants to try propagate however Iām not sure if what I took was seed pods or root pods the internet isnāt really helping so far⦠either way I plopped them in shallow soil in hopes something happens.
Hey circle!! I am thinking about doing it⦠I think I am going to propagate string of pearls!! My string of pearls is so long and I want to have a new baby plant! I am going to do it a few different ways: water, soil, and a singular pearl. I have searched up all of these and found out they are all possible!! I will be posting updates every week about my baby strings. So excited and totally going to do it after work!! If you have any recommendations than feel free to share. šŖ“š§š¦š§µ (Also posting this on Cactus and Succulent Circle)
Hi! New to Planta, but thought I would share my favorite new hobbyā propagating pothos in my 55 gallon aquarium! I was struggling to keep the nitrate levels down in the tank, and read that growing plants like pothos in the water can help significantlyā and it has!!! Took a little scrap wood, drilled some holes, stained/sealed/waterproofed, and now I have my favorite feature in my house! All of these were cuttings from my existing pothos plants that I rooted directly in the tank (the one in the copper glass had a super wonky stem, so Iām rooting her in there to help the stem straighten a bit before putting her in the tank!). The 10 gallon tank also got a little corner pothos. The plants help purify the water and cut down on water changes, plus they give the fish a more interesting environment! ššš
Hi friends! Quick question: Iāve been water propagating some pothos cuttings for a while now (honestly probably a few months because I havenāt had time to transfer them into soil until now; also this was my first attempt at propagation in general). Iām a little uncertain what I should do because many of them have super long, healthy(-ish?), well-established roots, but some very few, smallish leaves and super short stems/vines. Honestly, some of the few leaves that there are look a little less than peak condition either. The attached picture is a pretty good example of root to leaf ratio. Any advice on how to approach transferring them to soil? Or how to approach reviving them a bit more to give them a better chance? Thanks so much! š„°
My boyfriend got me a cutting from a big fiddle leaf fig thatās in my neighborhood. I propagated the cutting in water. I kept it in water for about a month and half and like 3 weeks ago I put it in soil and this morning I realized a new leaf coming in! Iām so happy lol
Mother plant (Greta, after Greta Gerwig) and brand new baby (Margot, after Margot Robbie) š this is my first time propagating so any tips are appreciated!
