I’ve had these heartleaf philodendron in water for over a month and i’m not seeing any roots. I have them under a grow light and I change the water (filtered) weekly. Anyone know what the problem could be? Am I just being impatient? I was under the impression they’re supposed to root up pretty quickly.

I had this happen with a scindapsus (not a philo, I know. But still an aroid so maybe comparable?) Took ~7 weeks, but it eventually did root! So long as you keep taking care of them, they’ll likely root eventually. If u want to speed it along you could rub rooting hormone or aloe vera on the nodes. Or u could stick an actively rooting cutting (like a pothos) into the same glass

Very helpful, thank you so much. I’ll be patient ☺️

Agree! A pothos cutting helped me root stubborn Micans cuttings :)

I have had luck with leca rooting for some of my larger cuttings and sphagnum moss for my small one but if one thing doesn’t work for me I will try another. Good luck! 🤞🏼

I’ve never rooted anything like this, so disregard if this makes no sense.😅 But what helped me root pepper plant, hibiscus, and purple heart spiderwort cuttings was… I poured out half the water every day and added fresh water to top it back up. This added fresh oxygen every day without pouring all the rooting hormones in the water down the drain. Maybe that will help?

Try not to change the water to much bc it produces its own rooting hormones try every week and a half or two weeks and try putting a pothos cutting in it it help speed up the process or you could pull a me and gets really tired of losing my expensive plants to rot in water try this it works really well it’s on TikTok shop and I love it

I do know that it depends on the plants genetics how well and quickly they’ll propagate! Definitely agree don’t dump out all of the water when freshening up the water! Just add to it
