Hey friends 🤗, I just cut back my very long and leggy Golden Potho and I was left with these bald vines. What is the best way to propagate these Viney boys? And how should I cut them? Should I leave 2-3 nodes in between each cut or should I cut between each node itself ? Also, do I have to cut them?? I have Spanish moss and was wondering if I can stick some of that in a plastic bag with water and toss my cuttings into it? (Featuring my cat Poopy🐈‍⬛)

You have like 20 plants there depending on how you cut. I’d experiment and do different cuts. You can leave longer stems in water to root, but growth may only come from the end node leaving empty nodes in between.

Do you think it would be a good idea to cut every 3rd node and propagate in water like I would if they had a leaf ?

Yes. That’s the easiest way. Just pop them in water and let them be. Top up the water, don’t change it. Growth hormones are in the water so you don’t want to throw it away.

My micans wet sticks are growing like crazy in sphagnum moss on a seedling heat mat under a grow light inside two drain trays taped together. I just added the mat about 3 weeks ago. This was mostly just sticks then! Good luck!! 💚

Woah, I am super new and that’s a pretty cool idea! I’m gonna have to try that, I have about 30 cuttings and I’m experimenting different ideas. Thank you so much!

You’re very welcome! My cutting in water and ones in fluval (best for recovering sick babies) also do amazing on a mat!

I put mine in a tray of spaghum moss mixed with a little soil, and just keep it moist. This is also my first time just doing bald stems. The second pic started in water, when I seen the two sprouts I decided to move them to there moss mix.
