Had a beautiful pothos that I wanted to make fuller at the top, so I repotted her and took a cutting with 2 inch roots and planted her in here too. I know typically pot size should only be 1-2 inches wider than root ball….my established plant should be fine but is this going to be too big a pot for my new cutting? It’s a 5.5 inch pot

I’ve only ever put the cuttings in glass bottles with water .. curious how this will work out 🤔

I did that for several weeks! Then it had about 3 inches of roots so I planted it

I actually did all of this back in July (took my pothos, cut it up, and planted directly into soil with others to be fuller. I did not root them in water yet) I am JUST starting to see leaves grow but they have been in the “growing” stage for quite some time. I also didn’t start with leaves, so it’s been a test for sure. But it seems to be working, just slowly lol Also, I think your pot will be fine. You have several “root balls” in the same pot so the space is needed I think! If anything, it may just grow slower.

I mostly only repot up 1-2”, but you’re planting in terracotta. Terracotta dries out way faster than plastic, so I wouldn’t be as worried about the plant staying moist for too long…

Also, my favorite way to make a pothos fuller is to tuck the trailing part into the top of the pot and let it root there
