Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree I first purchased my Fiddle Fig plant at Lowe’s on clearance for $3. As you see my Fiddle Fig leaf tree has thrived and now has gotten very tall. I do believe it’s time for me to propagate, but I’m scared. I know it will be so good for her, but I’m just afraid to do what needs to be done 🫣 Can anyone off me some advice on getting out of my own way and just give my girl the hair cut she needs.

I just recently maybe two months ago did the pinch. You pinch out where the new growth is coming up. I have three new branches coming it. It felt less scary to me than a full chop.

If I were to pinch it help it spread outwards and slow down the upward growth? I feel like I should wait until next spring to cut, what’s your opinion?

Yes so pinching stops the current growth path and pushes it to start more branches. Which is what I wanted from mine. It might be better to wait for spring since it uses a lot of energy to grow. I would note most of my new growth was still close to the top so he's still getting tall. I have tried the cuts to make it branch further down but never had any sucess.

I do mine every spring after doubling up on fertilizer for the previous 3 waterings. Makes for some very happy plants. In fact I have quite the ritual of hunting down multi-trunked ones at Sam’s or Costco so that i can cut them at staggered heights to make it REALLY full & then gifting them so I can do it again 😂 Three dollars though?! I can’t get over that! You’ve done an incredible job. You owe yourself a huge dose of confidence.
