Wondering if anyone has any tips for planting propogated string of hearts vines and having them actually take - I find that 50% of the ones I plant just shrivel up even though they have good roots on them

I had a string of pearls that I dug up and repotted recently and it’s still shriveled. The string of pearls that randomly grew into an unplanted pot is doing great. Finicky plants

Hello, hope this helps. I cut mine into little individual hearts with a leaf on either side. Placed them in a Tupperware container onto moss with little worm cast sprayed them down with water and put them near sunny window covered them with clingfilm. Also placed a few in a pot and covered with clingfilm till I felt they’d taken and then removed. It’s worked each time. They’re all from the mummy plant. Think better to plant into pot with the soil mixture and covered for few wks for best results

This is great information, thank you! When placing the cling film over the pot, does it need to be sealed or does just placing it over the top work?

In my experience, it has worked better when the cover is sealed! Or I’ve also placed it in a Ziplock plastic bag or one around it.

I seal it no gaps. It produces condensation moisture so no need to water. Also it’s on a really sunny morning south facing window if that helps.

Honestly the easiest is to just wrap a vine around in the dirt, cover the nodes with dirt. Then after the root cut between the nodes

Oh cool idea! Do you find that they still develop roots as easily as when they're cut and placed in water?

Yes, I've had better results with that than trying to cut and prop. Unless I use a domed lid with moss/perlite to keep a lot of moisture in with butterfly cuts

I struggled until I had more ne under a growlights. Post light they are easy to propane in water or just sticking the cut string straight back into the pot.
