Hi all! I took this monstera cutting last night, anyone have any tips or tricks on propagating a large cutting to try prevent any rot? I have tried water propagating a large cutting before and I struggled with rot, especially with the aerial roots. I haven’t put this one in water yet, just trying to let it callous first. Any tips would be much appreciated!!
The YouTube channel Jungle Haven took a pink marble and on the end put wax to seal it & prevent root rot. Then the aerial roots can grow in water to the size you desire to plant. I would venture to say the same with your monstera. I did it with my pink marble & this is what it looks like

let it dry out. do not put wax on it as this will seal in moisture and potentially cause rot. after a week or however long it takes to callous, i would plant it right in a small nursery pot filled with a loose, airy medium in a semi-hydro setup (i like pumice or a perlite/coco-chip blend for this) and slowly wean off watering as it grows roots until you can treat it as you would a mature monstera rooted in soil. use one or two of those long arch-shaped stakes to secure it in place and maybe some rocks or a brick (lol) on top to keep the pot balanced since the leaves are so large. best of luck

Monstera was the first plant that I got a cutting of. Keep it in clear glass, change out the water frequently, and monitor the roots for any sign of rot. Keep the plant in a well lit and open space, don't crowd it too much. I included an old picture of mine, the jar was definitely too small and the photo is from the day I moved some of it into a bigger vase.
In my experience when I’ve propagated my larger plants like silver swords and philodendron bob cee, I’ve had the best luck when not letting them dry, and I’ll keep it further from a window in low light and switch out the water daily

I be done some of these successfully. I let them callous over for about 3 days, then put them in water. Just enough water to cover the nodes. I had seen somewhere that the longer they are in water, the harder it is to adjust to soil, so, I started them off in water and when the roots were about 2 inches long, I transitioned them to soil. They’ve done well.
