hey guys so i have this pothos prop and it’s been growing algae more than my others in the same area. it attempted to grow a new leaf but it got caught in the water so rotted, and the roots have been looking not great either. i swapped the pitcher completely and put peroxide in it, i haven’t trimmed the roots though. it’s just weird considering there’s an identical pitcher with props in it right next to it that hasn’t grown algae or had rot, makes me wonder if the pothos is the issue.

I’m guessing the sun light is a major contributor to algae growth. I have several propagations that hang on an interior wall that do get algae from time to time but the props that sit in my window are far more susceptible to algae. I make it a habit to change water weekly in props to help mitigate algae but typically rinsing the roots and cleaning the vessels when changing water are all I do. It may not completely eliminate algae growth, but does keep it under control.

It’s very weird considering I have the exact same container with props in it right next to it, getting the same sun and overall conditions😅

I hear ya!!! My propagation wall is temperamental like that. Everything gets the same amount of light and two props taken on the exact same day from the exact same plant can give me vastly different levels of algae.

Agreed! I have these up and it seems like the tube on the left always gets algae faster than the other sections…
