I found this beauty on fb marketplace and couldn’t say no! It’s been propagating in water for a few weeks according to the seller. I’ve never propagated anything before. I’ve heard propagating in perlite is really good? Or should I continue with water? If it stays in water how often should I change the water (and do I fertilise the water?) So many questions sorry! I’ve gone plant mad in recent weeks (i’ve finally put down roots of my own - excuse the pun - and I’ve always wanted loads of plants) :D

Good questions! Can’t wait to see what the answers are! I too am doing the water thing and don’t know if I’m doing it right.

Looks like it’s doing fine. I’d keep it in water for a bit longer till those white roots get bigger. Now this is a 50/50. I personally don’t change water. I top up and root with fertilized water. Everyone different. Some like to keep the water clean and change it up. I believe the plant releases root hormones so I’ve have better luck just topping up with faster results.

I don’t change the water but once every week or so I’ll drop a little bit of fresh water and tiny bit of peroxide in to keep algae down. That ones looks like it’s doing good! Keep going a little longer like she said 🫶🏼

dont change water unless it starts to look gross. the water is filled with rooting hormone! changing water will slow the progress! i say you can pot here pretty soon. despite what many say, it is a good idea to pot before the roots get too big in water. water roots are different from soil roots. water roots put into soil too late will rot!

I had the same plant and love it so i watched it daily (not a good idea ha) but after about 2 months it was ready for planting! I waited until the roots were about 2 inches per feedback in the group and last week planted it. Looks strong and steady now!I also changed the water about every week/week 1/2.

Thanks for all the replies everyone!! I potted it up around a month ago and it’s now put out a new leaf!!! It’s definitely the most temperamental of my plants (the tips are browning so I’ve now got a humidifier for it) but it’s also one of my favourites! 🤣
