Cut off and use either the leafy part or cut the bamboo stick into pieces and use the nodes let that callous for a few hours to a day, some people use wax to seal the end to avoid rot. Put the cuttings in some water just the bottom should be submerged not the entire thing and donât have any leaves touching the water as well. Roots take about 1-2 months to form btw. Also make sure you use clean water and sanitize your knife or scissors thatâs super important.
1 likeOoo propagating lucky bamboo is so fun to me! If an offshoot is 4-6 inches long it should be able to produce new offshoots after roots grow but if it is shorter than that it will most likely only have roots. I usually take offshoots from lucky bamboo stalks that are dying, I just make sure to snap them off while they are still green. As đ said, it is best to let the cuttings callous over for at least a few hours to help prevent rot. I also usually propagate lucky bamboo in water since it has been easier than in soil for me, just make sure to change out the water and clean the container every now and then. I put a short offshoot in some water and it grew roots after a few weeks but I donât think it will grow any new offshoots since it wasnât tall enough to begin with. I still think itâs cute though so I enjoy it nonetheless! I hope this helps a little!
