Can anyone tell me what these two white spots are on my pothos prop?… | Propagating & Sowing | Planta community

Can anyone tell me what these two white spots are on my pothos prop? I’ve had these cutting in water for about two weeks and just noticed these white spots on multiple of the cuttings. Is it anything I should worry about?

Can they be underwater? I only took it out of the water so I can get a better pic.

I’ve been having the same problem with my propagation. I’ve been googling it for days trying to figure it out. I found out that it’s just calluses. It’s part of the natural progress of propagating plants underwater. Don’t be worried. I hope I helped!

Hey these are called plant callus or sometimes referred to as proto-roots. When they occur under water it usually signals new root growth. There is a great Wikipedia article about it and a few discussions on Reddit that go into more detail.
