Where is the best place to chop this so I can propagate and fill out the pot? It’s a fake Christmas cactus 🌵. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with me!

I loved it looking like this, but was impossible to avoid - touching it, that is. So many tiny needles.

I have a baby Bunny ear to deal with. I don’t like it, we have no connection because it stabbed me many times. My hands hurt for 2 days.

I cannot keep those alive! Except for this one. Note the size…

Recently propped some leaves from repotting my false Christmas cactus and I simply carefully twisted the leaves off individually and popped each piece into some fresh cactus mix and watered it every week, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings, then checked on the cuttings ever 2-3 weeks for root development. I also found Bonide’s rooting hormone powder was great at helping the cuttings start to form roots within a matter of 2 weeks. I patted some of the powder onto the bottom of the leaf after letting it callous for a day, then placed the cuttings into the soil and watered it. I found from some experimentation that making the props from single leaf cuttings rather than a string of multiple connected leaves was much more successful in forming roots, so I would recommend twisting them off into individual pieces until you’ve removed as many as you want or reached the bottom leaf with an already developed root system. Here’s my current setup for reference.

No problem! Also wanted to let you know you have what is called an Easter cactus, not the false Christmas cactus. Just thought I should tell you since they do bloom at a different time and you’d have less time to prepare them for blooming than other cacti in its family. They bloom in the springtime and require very specific temperature and darkness needs to get a lot of blooms, so I highly recommend looking up “how to get Easter cacti to bloom” on YouTube. Though since you’re planning on removing the leaves and propagating pieces from it, it likely will focus on developing a root system than blooming this year, so don’t worry if your cuttings don’t bloom come spring. Here’s the ID for your cactus: https://links.getplanta.com/L4xH Hope this helps!

Adrian, thanks for even more detailed information. I will look into the two and adjust their plan of care.
