Zz plant leave propagating I have no clue. I have it in moss but I feel it’s not doing as well as it could. Is solid a better option for propagation?

Zz plants don’t like wet. I’m guessing it is too moist. I’ve never seen a Zz leaf propagated in anything but a jar of water. If you have roots already on that leaf get it in a cactus soil. If not, put the cut end it water but let the leaf itself be in the dry air.

If you go out to the community page and search Zz plant, I posted recently about my experience with leaf and stem propagation.

🫣☺️ my only advice is lots of patience and don’t be discouraged ☘️
1 likeI’ve had success rooting ZZ leaf and stem cuttings in water and in damp vermiculite. I’ve even had ZZ rhizomes send out new shoots in a sealed Ziplock of seed starting mix! If the leaf still looks healthy, I’d just give it more time. I’ve had them take anywhere from a couple weeks to 6+ months just to *start* rooting! It’s a looong process lol but pretty cool to watch
0 likesI chopped and propped a ZZ with root rot probably a month ago, and the leaf cuttings in vermiculite seem to be growing rhizomes/roots faster than the cuttings in water! This is a few of the leaves today. They’re just shoved in a plastic bin with an inch of damp vermiculite. They’re on the floor under my seedling cart lol, so not getting much light but getting warmth from the heat mat. I open the bin to air out maybe 1x per week when I remember 😅
