Attempting to propagate a money tree. I’ve had this in water for 2 weeks. There’s a white filming substance that is around it but not sure if that’s the growth hormone coming in to help or bad? Also I’m assuming these white dots are roots starting but not certain, any advice? New to this world but loving it!!

Money tree roots slowly. It may even take a couple months for you to see roots so don't give up too quickly.

Just keep the water fresh once a week. Watch for signs of rot. And keep being patient. Biofilm is natural and to me those look like roots attempting to emerge. You got this!

Growth hormone doesn't turn white or film, so that's not it. Do you have a pic of the mother plant? When you trimmed the prop did the end weep white?

This is the parent plant! I’m not sure where I trimmed it but I didn’t look at the time of cut either

That's a type of ficus im pretty sure, not a money tree, which was why i was asking, the leaves didnt look like mt. When cut they leak a white sap, latex, which i think is what you are seeing in the water.

Is the white sap that “film” or the white dots on the stem? Hoping those white dots are really roots! Thanks!

The white dots look like they're roots starting.
