So, I managed to break off 2 pieces of Caliope. I stuck them in water when I did it about a week ago, and although new roots were showing practically overnight, they now look like this… Is that normal?? 🤷🏻‍♀️

While I’m not certain the roots typically darken as they age, I do think it’s very helpful to remove all foliage from the stem where it will be submerged. I would start there. Best of luck 🪴

Oh, and while they out of the water, feel those dark areas for firmness. If they feel soft or mushy or slimy, they may be beginning to decay. 🪴 If so, you may want to consider removing those softer roots.

Thank you! I’ve removed any of the leaves that are currently under water, and we’ll see what happens! 😁
