Hey, my monstera wasn’t doing so well, so I decided to propagate some cuttings in water. It’s been exactly a month and no roots have grown. I am not confident in them rooting. Should I wait longer? This is my first time doing it, and the plant was young (may not have gotten any nodes) and it is also winter, for any extra info on this. I’m just curious.

If you didn’t get any nodes then it will take months, and the cutting will probably never grow into its own full plant, but it can still grow roots! if you want to speed things up you can use rooting hormone, but i’m unsure of how it works on cuttings without nodes

If you dont have any nodes, it will not root. On the extremely rare case of rooting without a node, like some fiddle leaves can, etc. It will be a 'zombie leaf' and will keep that cut alive, but no new growth will happen.

there have been cases where a no-node cutting has grown roots, but it’s definitely a bit more rare!

Can you take a picture? If you didn't add any rooting hormone it can take forever for the slow growers. Ive had some Hoya cuttings take a few months to even get tiny roots, and thats with rooting hormones

Update: The leaves were previously turning yellow. I reexamined and remembered where I cut, there were no nodes. I kept them far too long without any hope of them growing lol. It’s a learning lesson
