Hi plant friends! I have a glorious rubber tree that was the first of my (now 55 plant strong) collection when it only had 3 leaves! It’s my pride and joy but it’s getting too big for the current space (there aren’t really any other places I could put it - although as a last resort I could find somewhere!). I’m wondering what to do for the best. Should I: A: chop and prop (if so, how and how much should I chop?). B: find a new spot (not an easy task as it’s now 115 cm/45 in tall) C: find some way to train it so it doesn’t hit the ceiling? Please share your wisdom so I can help my baby! Thank you 🪴

    I personally would chop and prop! Chop 2/3 of it back. You can prop what you cut off too. I did this to my rubber tree last year and was very popular with my planty co-workers when I took them each a new plant once they had rooted!

      Thank you for your advice! I’ll chop and prop soon and see how it goes! Is there a best time of year to do this? Will it suffer if I chop in summer?

      Feel free to update us. Chopping should help it grow more bushy!

      No this the perfect time once September is over that’s it for most spring/summer plants.❤️😊🙏🏽

    I agree. Gifting plants can be fun (unless they don’t take care of your hard work haha 😆) Also, it sounds like you may be limited space wise? If not, then keep its baby. Kudos on your rubber tree it looks beautiful!

    Active growing like in the summer is said to be the best time to do this.

    I prop my plants all year long, I’ve never had issues with time of year. Good luck, making the big chop can be scary but turns exciting once you see the new little shoots start growing!

    You’ve done an amazing job with this plant and it shows. Allow this plant to keep thriving and allow babies to form. It is loving you and what you do with it..❤️🙏🏽😊
