Hi everyone, I am propagating this monstera albo cutting. I started it in water, and the bottom below the node started rotting. I cut off the rot (sterile shears and everything), dipped it in rooting hormone, then put it in moist perlite. After a couple weeks, it looked extremely droopy, so I moved it back to water. Now roots are coming out, but I think the rot at the bottom is coming back. If the bottom node rots, is this a goner? Should I cut the bottom even though it’s so close to the node? Are the roots coming out of nodes? Thank you! I’ve only propped pothos before which were super easy 😅

You could cut off that bottom part that is rotting and just keep that piece with the two sets of air roots on it. Looks like you have two nodes there. So you could get two plants from what I am seeing here

I would cut it where the red line is and throw the rest away I shaded over with blue

The variegation on that stem is amazing. Good genes. Must be a beautiful plant. Sorry totally not answering your question. But anyway it looks like several node. You can tell because the roots are coming out at the nodes. Which one is rotting?

Leaves are browning a little but excited to see what the new growth will be like! The nodes with the roots coming out are fine, but the base of the stem under the big node at the bottom rotted before, so I am paranoid it’s coming back

Wow! What a beauty! 😍 I see what your talking about. Luckily you have those other roots already. Maybe let it callous a day or so before putting it back in water after you cut off the rot. Fingers crossed. She’s lovely 😊
