Ok, it’s been a week, here is the same mystery plant. One of the smaller leaves died, but it looks pretty healthy . Can anyone tell me what it is?

    The leaf that died off is known as the cotyledon and they both will do that. As far as your previous post, I can definitively say that this is not a strawberry plant. The first true leaves are not serrated enough. It is likely a seed that was dormant in the soil until you began watering it. So it all depends on where you got the soil. If it's from your yard, then observe the other plants around where you dug. Might be just a common yard weed. Looks like hairy bittercress to me, but that's not a 100% ID

      Now that I think about it, this might either be basil or arugula, he have some growing. It possibly could be mint too.
