Found part of my pine cone cactus on the floor. Not sure if it was dead and fell over or if the cat got to it. Any way to propagate?

I'd try just sticking it in soil. Maybe let the bottom callous over first.

It’s calloused over over night is that enough? And to be descriptive? This was the top half of a cactus that fell off. Maybe overwatering. Should I still try?

Can't hurt. Just put it in some dry soil. 🤷‍♀️

Every time I put mine in damp soil they rot. 🤷‍♀️

Take a clean knife or scissors and cut off the bottom. Dip it in rooting powder (I found some on Amazon) and let it dry out for a few weeks. Then plant it in new soil. I used tongs to help plant mine so I didn’t get stickers from it. That should work. I propagated two of mine and it worked really well.

How long did it take before roots came out of the cut part? Is it okay for me to pull it out of the soil to check?

I would not pull it out. Just leave it.
