Need some advice on this calathea beauty star! I can never make it happy. I have two humidifier s going next to it, it’s about 8 feet from a south facing window. It has new growth but they always end up having tan, translucent spots (shown in third photo). I really want to revive it and make it happy. What can i do?
Have you unpotted to see what the root situation is?

0 gillningar Ypu would want to check for two things, that it's not root bound... ie most of the pot is roots. And that there is no root rot.. ie mushy roots. If they're mushy you'll want to remove everything mushy. And spray/drench in some peroxide solution. If it's bound you can repot in a pot that 1-2" larger. Or cut back the bottom the the roots 25% and repot in the same pot. I use Mycorrhizal in on the roots to help transplant shock, and root growth.

Ik this is an old post but I’m doom scrolling. My rattlesnake calathea also had those translucent spots on each new leaf for a while. I figured out that it was edema from overwatering so I just cut back a teeny bit and it stopped doing that. Also if I saw the leaf was gonna be translucent I cut it off before it even unfurled
