Hi! i got this hoya compacta today and she needs the SOS treatment 😅😭 i got her for a steal so figured id at least try to nuke the hitchhikers myself. idek where to begin or what issues she’s got feeding on her at this point. i’ve only ever dealt with gnats and minor spider mites before so i haven’t a clue where to begin. does anyone know what i might be dealing with? i assumed some sorta pest soak/bath could be a good place to start maybe? but how do those work, what do i use lol i might be in over my head any advice is SUPER appreciated! thanks in advance! 🙏

I’m so sorry, princess! I brought this plant home from Lowe’s so excited because it looked beautiful. It was in a self watering pot with soil that was soaking wet like mud. When I transplanted it, the roots were very rotten and a lot had to be removed. She looks less wilted today, though!

Welp, this is your PSA. This is why we quarantine, especially as your plant collection grow bigger. This was a monstera Albo I traded for one of my anthurium. When I repotted, I found fungus gnats (which I don't have even with all my high humidity) Well it had some thrips too! So I'm glad I isolated as there was no signs despite my very thorough inspection at the time of the trade. So luckily, only one casualty rather than having to clean my full collection. Happy collecting and keep that in mind 🌱

I've had this marigold for 4 months. It was doing well. I don't understand what happened? It was super hot last week, but how do I help this plant bounce back? Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm not sure why my basil have gotten woody and the leaves don't open. Does anyone have suggestions? The bottom leaves get light green or white and then often shrivel up and fall off. I live in southern California and it's September. I am open to recommendations and advice.

Would anyone be willing to be my plant mentor? Just for a day or two? I had a manic episode and bought like 30 plants even though I have very little experience with plants 😳 All of them are young or cuttings, so I’m trying to start them all from scratch and it’s not going well. Almost every single one is struggling and it’s really starting to effect my mental health 😭 The more I research, the more confused I feel, and I don’t really trust AI to give me comprehensive help. It would be so so nice if someone could walk through my plants with me and tell me what I’m doing wrong for each one without me spamming the newsfeed 😅 For a flavor of my problems, here are the top 3: 1. Everyone says that tradescantias propagate super easily, but that hasn’t been my experience. I keep trying to save this one by planting more cuttings, but they all rot. This plant might be so far gone that I need to completely restart it. 2. This Hoya compacta was completely root rotted so I cut off the rot and put it in water. The leaves plumped back up, but I’m not seeing any roots and there is this weird bubble that keeps forming around the stem even when I change the water. Is this a sign of rooting or rotting? 3. I’ve been watering according to Planta’s schedule pretty consistently for months without checking soil moisture. Several of my plants have actually been doing really well with it and have pushed out a lot of new growth. But now that I’m checking moisture I’m noticing that it seems way too early when Planta tells me to water. (This pothos still feels wet on the top 12 days after watering.) So do I keep watering on the schedule and just assume these Planta like a ton of water even though everything online says differently? Or is this a sign of a different issue that they are still wet after so long? ❤️ Thank you for reading

Ugh. A frond got too wet and got moldy at the base. The Mold had already eaten through the whole base and I had to remove it. I’m about 2 weeks before I call it and get a new palm and try again…

I have Calathea Orbifolia that I repotted because she seemed to need watering a lot and I realized she had a good amount of roots. I’ve repotted her to a pot an inch bigger (didn’t have anything else that wasn’t too big) and she’s a bit droopy. Is that just from the repot and if so, how long should she take to rebound? Usually her largest leaves are standing straight up to catch the light and now they are a lil droopy.

No doubt about it. I'm a rescuer of clearance rack plants. Fingers crossed it's not too late. Severe root rot, so doing a chop/prop with this monstera lechleriana 🙏 I still need to trim away the wilty-brown edges, but it can pull through! Right?

I’ve noticed my evergreen dystilium look like it was struggling , newly planted April of this year . Any recommendations? I’m in Louisiana , felt like I’ve been watering it enough

Sooo… I messed up and thought my Parlor Palm could deal with the heat in my bathroom getting indirect sun from an East facing window. It could not and it dried out in July. I finally chopped the dried fronds early August. She’s been more or less stuck in stasis since. That little new frond you see in the second picture has been stuck since July. 😭 She seemed to be reacting well to watering more often than advised, but I think I started over watering her this past week. Right now I’m moving her to a north facing window with a maidenhair. Hopefully some cooler climate and humidity will help, but any other advice is appreciated. 😅

Help please ❤️ Pretty seasoned gardener here, but still newish to houseplants, and also plant recovery (I like finding the rejects and Lowe’s and loving them) My dad gave me this aloe plant to revive, it’s very special to him, his mother gave it to him years ago and he trusted me to revive her and help him with it. He’s great at growing tomatoes, not aloes. Lol. First pic is when I got it July 23rd, after repotting into something way smaller, he had it in a super big pot. It barely had any roots but had a few. I changed out the soil and gave it the mix I make for my other succulents that are doing well, trimmed some of the definitely dead leaves, and put it in the only good window I have, but also under a grow light for 9 hours. Second pic is today (August 26th) she seems to be doing a lot better, got a little growth even and is looking like she’s trying to perk up more. I was out of clear pots when I replanted, but wasn’t able to get any until this week and she didn’t have a chance in what she was in before. Would it be too much shock to repot into the clear nursery pot now? I can tell there’s a better root system because the plant itself is just sturdier in the pot—if that makes sense. I would rather it be in the clear one before I give it back, but she still has a ways to go before she’s ready to go home. But I’d also prefer clear pot now just because I want to make sure I don’t screw this up in any way, it means a lot that he asked me to help her/him. Thoughts? Should I wait? Is there anything else I should be doing to help her?

Hi all! I recently won this Alocasia in a plant bingo. I’ve always wanted one but never bought one because I’ve heard they are notoriously hard. But hey! It was free if you don’t count the bingo admission. Anyway, I’ve had it for maybe a week or two and I’m noticing all these spots on the leaves. The healthy leaf is new. But the plant was just uncurling the leaf when I got it. Any recommendations on what its issue is and what I need to do about it?

Plant was transferred twice after it was struggling in some pretty bad soil and it was transferred twice in that same week pretty large-ish amount was cut off of it and we have had to take off a lot of leaves cause it’s it’s not doing that good any tips?

My snake plant has a huge cracks in some of her foliage, I’m wondering what I should do. Should I cut it off and propagate them? If so I have never propagated a snake plant before, but I would totally love to try and would appreciate all the tips I can get. Or if I should simply just leave her alone. What should I do? 😊
