I got this aloe a couple of years ago. I was able to get 3 other plants out of its pups, which was amazing. The main plant didnât do so well through a move and I had to cut the bottom leaves off. Itâs leaning on a stake now but without the stake it just falls over. Can it be saved?
It looks quite healthy. They aren't really a self heading plant... ie they can't hold up their own weight, so they generally slump over. The only way to combat it is to rig a stake/support system, or cut the top head off and replant it so it's closer to the ground again.
1 gillaThank you for the suggestion! Can you tell me more about cutting the top off and replanting it? What I just plant the exposed part deeper? I agree what is left is doing pretty well now and I donât want to lose it.
0 gillningar Yes, that's the gist of it. I use a rooting hormone, DipnGrow, when I behead something. There are quite a few youtubes on beheading aloe and replanting, you may want to browse through some to get an idea. I'd cut about 2 or even 3 rungs down, let it callus for a day or so and plant it, thatd give you about 2 nodes to get roots from.
1 gilla If you moved recently, I'd give it a month maybe to settle in so you don't get a lot of shock added on. Mycorrhizal will help with any shock or root regrowth too
