Hey there! My sweet mother in law bought me this alocasia for Christmas. I noticed tonight that one of the pups in the pot had a mushy part on it (it was like the part that’s left when a new shoot grows). I took it off (accidentally breaking that leaf off in the process). Anyways I tried to cut it with my shears but it looks like a hack job lol. Do you guys think it will be okay? I am new to alocasias 😅 Also it seems like that was only squishy part and the rest is normal 😄
Yes it should be fine but it looks like it should be in a deeper pot

I would not recommend planting deeper unless you are really comfortable with Alocasia as this may cause stem rot. (Despite what the other commenter says) coming from someone with over 50 alocasias. Mushy bits are normal, they might be older leaf or sheath. Lastly, that soil is really water retentive, I recommend changing it after it gets used to your conditions and water sparingly in the meantime. Alocasias have very sensitive roots and while they do enjoy humid soil, they do not like wet and compact.

Hello! I have the same plant and I am no expert but for all my plants whenever there is any problem with a plant I will cut it off and it will always grow back ten times better so I think it should be fine:))) Good luck:)
