hi! first time posting here:) i was gifted a very suffering but previously very beautiful begonia rex recently. i believe she was underwatered, then someone noticed and overwatered her, but her drainage situation was bad. that was when i got her. up until a few days ago when i trimmed, she was super mushy with no leaves. i repotted her, and her roots look okay? i trimmed away most of the rot and there are still stems with healthy roots on them. all this to say, does this plant seem alive? i just can't tell. people keep saying she is, but i am not seeing progress. no matter what i do, it seems to overwater, then underwater, then overwater... the photo with the pink stick is her now, with the other being her when i first got her. seems a bit hopeless now. obviously i can give any more information, im just not sure what's relevant tbh. any suggestions?

Hi there! I just got my first ever begonia (‘cracklin Rosie’) and would greatly appreciate any care tips, including best kind of soil! Thank you in advance!!💚🌸
Hi! I just picked up this beauty. Even the girl who ordered it didn’t know exactly what it was called. lol We settled on the Scarlet Begonia ‘Lana’. Is this correct and does she look healthy? I feel like her spots should be more pronounced. Not sure what to expect or do with her but she was too pretty, I couldn’t pass her up for only $15. 🥰 Thanks, Newly obsessed with begonias
Big ol’ beautiful baby is pushing some massive leaves!
I’ve got some begonias outside I’d love to save. I live in WA and it’s starting to get cold. What can I do?
my maculata has popped out her first bunch of flowers, proud plant mum🥹
My maculata is about to produce her third bunch of flowers!
I have a bloom too. 😊
lovely little blooms 💞🌸
Mums poka dot that I have been trying to save. Annoyingly the part thats flowing is a cutting from my poka dot that I stuck in there to make hers look fuller. Do I have flowers on my actual plant?... no😑
Send tips. I've killed 3 Rex Begonias. The tips start to crisp and fall one by one. I saw this and couldn't go without her. Can you help me keep her alive?
Just wanted to share a before and after photo of my 47 year old Polka Dog Begonia. First picture is the day I rescued this plant in February 2025 and the second photo is today. Pretty proud of how far this beauty has come ❤️
anyone have tips for these beauties? i'm a begonia killer, i can't keep them alive in soil, but i think i'm finally going to try a self-watering pot. this is my first time using a self watering pot legitimately, they've always been a hard no for me but i think this is just one of those plants that won't thrive without truly consistent moisture. despite my bad luck with them it was so striking that i had to have it 😅
Any recommendations on how I can have the shape of this plant a little more normal/pretty? I love that shes a little weird but a bit bushier would maybe be nice.
I’ve had my begonia maculata 4 months, and it’s starting to bloom!
First begonia ever and he’s just not poppin like I imagined. It’s been roughly a month and it’s still kind of ugh. Lowe’s store find I was hoping to rescue but nothing has changed and he’s looking a little blah
My very first Begonia. I am in love ❤️ I am sure this is just the beginning 🤣 The seller was unsure what type it is but I think I found it?
She’s gorgeous!
I need some help with my begonia maculatas. I have three of them, I keep them in a mix of soil, sphagnum moss, orchid bark, and perlite. I run a humidifier consistently and they are in a minimum of 60% humidity at all times, sometimes closer to 75% humidity. The bottoms of their leaves seem to be being “eaten up” by browning edges. It happens so quickly and they get so dry as a result. I’m not letting the soil become water bogged but I’m also not allowing it to dry out completely. Could it be too much light? It did just push out a new beautiful leaf for me and I don’t want it to meet the same fate.
I hope this is n the right group?
