Kale and a tomato in a hydroponic setup! Took 90 days for the tomato, got to large for the system but felt great to see it through from seed to harvest.

New to Leca and semi hydroponics! I placed my Monstera Deliciosa and Monstera Adansonii, Hoya pubicalyx and Hoya Rosita, and rubber tree tineke in semi hydroponics hoping to see more new growth. The growth was pretty stagnant in a chunky aroid soil mixture I had used mollys aroid mixture with success in many of my other plants. I am using general hydroponics set of fertilizers diluted with water. I checked the roots after two weeks and noted some root rot which I pruned off and used hydrogen peroxide to disinfect the roots after placing back into the Leca. Any advice would be so greatly appreciated from going from soil to Leca for all these babies. 😅

Ok so I’m definitely new to leca… I’ve been dipping into water culture with my orchids and they are thriving. I had some baby peace and flamingo lilies that were hating life in soil so they currently live on the edge of my tank I’m building along with a couple philos and a purple waffle…. I do however want to start transitioning some of my other plants into water culture (I hate soil based pests 😅) but being a total noob to actual leca thought I maybe should come here first and see what tips yall have for me. I know I would like to move my Alocasia and syngoniums to hydro/semi. Possibly my snowdrift and white wizard philos… maybe even my Agalomena? (Side question, Colacasia can be done in hydro too right?) pics are to show what I have and see what yall think would do better if transitioned…

Hey yall! I’m new to leca substrate and looking for advise on if moving my pothos water propagations to leca is a good idea or not as a further step. The roots are huge so that’s not the problem, I just don’t know if they will grow well/better now that they have developed, in that substrate. Any advise on leca in general? I’ve seen people say put it in glass jars?

Hey everyone!! I have just converted my VERY sad peace lily into leca from soil after her very root rotting past over the last few months. Is there too much leca in the jar? Should I remove some from the bottom so the roots are more towards the bottom of the pot than the middle?! help 😭😭😭

I also posted this in th pothos group. I put cuttings in my aquaponic growbed to take up extra nitrates, and they are going nanners. I always thought pothos had low nutrient needs, not anymore.

I’m new to hydroponic plants, this being one of my first. I’m shocked by the fantastic growth she’s had, since she was put into PON. However, I’m concerned that she has sprouted all these new roots, none of which were showing when she was transferred into PON; now they are all long enough to be in the water medium. I’ve read that roots should not be in water because of possible root rot. What should I do? If I lower the water level, there won’t be any water showing in the window. TIA for any comments and help! PS. She’s so happy that she has had two flowers which I haven’t seen in a very long time.

This is the root strength jar. I usually run all my water props through one like it before putting them in soil. Swedish ivy in this example, and it gets pretty strong roots anyways, with bigger philodendrons and all my velvet leaves and alocasias. Highly recommend and I get a lot more prop success rate!

I have six plants in PON now …🥳 🎈🎉, and I’m very happy about it! However, I have them in a clone solution while waiting for them to grow some water roots, which I understand will take a few days. Does anyone have an idea how long a plant can stay in this solution before changing them into PON? Most importantly, in your experience, how long do I have to wait before I know my plant has successfully adapted to PON? TIA!

I’m new to using PON, and have just transferred one of my plants to this new substrate! I’ve watched lots of videos, and have noticed some speakers will talk about using a pH monitor. Can you tell me about your experience with pH monitors… how you use them, how often you use them, etc? I’m just waiting on some info from you, in case I need to purchase one of these monitors. Also, do you use any pH additives to adjust the pH in your pot? TIA for any help you can give me! PS. Notice the little water window at the bottom of the pot; should I be seeing the waterline, or should it be higher than the top of the window, or what? I guess I’m saying, I don’t know how much water to put in this hydroponic pot! Again, TIA!

So I've had this plant in my fish tank for a while now and it's been doing really well! Fish tanks and plants are in my opinion underrated because you can grow bot the aquatic plants and use the nutritional fish water to prop things! Tetra photobomb!

When you root a plant in moss, do they grow soil roots or water roots? In particular for an Alocasia. I want to transfer from moss (now that it developed a strong root system again) to pon; Is that usually an easy transition? I have great success going from soil to pon but have never transferred from moss...

Hello all! I am really struggling with my alocasias, a few of them (black velvet and Chinese taro) are doing really well, they are in a chunky mix with added bark, charcoal and stratum with plenty of drainage. However, I had lost my alocasias frydek and Polly to root rot, they were in the same mix, plenty of drainage and I was mindful of over watering and also not allowing them to dry out. I have a wentii and dragonscale that i am trialling in leca, I have removed any rotten roots and treated with peroxide solution etc. Could someone kindly give me some advice on leca/their experience with it? I am puzzled with watering, I'm under the impression the water in resivoir is meant to be below the level of the roots, any tips or help would be so, so helpful! All my plants are so happy but alocasias seem to be my nemesis!
