Well, that was fast! Not only did the grow light save my chambeyronia (“flamethrower palm”), it’s throwing a new leaf. I hope it’s red—my previous chambeyronia was very healthy but never had a red leaf. Apparently that happens sometimes!

My plant is suffering. Came home to all the leaves crusty and falling off. That’s when I joined Planta and have saved it from death, but any advice on how to treat it further accelerate healing?

Hi plant community! I got this beauty for Christmas. Right after receiving it, I traveled for two weeks. I made sure it got plenty of water and put it in the sunniest spot in the house before leaving, but came back to the curled leaves you see in the picture. Any recommendations on what is needed to help fix this? Thanks in advance!

Good morning plant friends! I have a whole-house water softener and I wonder if anyone has recommendations for making the salt-treated water more potable? I am guessing she is extra sensitive to this water :(

Happy houseplant appreciation day! Check out my cute bromeliad, favorite plant. Taken over by pups but looks real full…

Any guesses what this plant is. Planta said it’s monstera which I’m sure it isn’t. I got it on clearance with no label.

Surprisingly enough, there is a night stand under this beauty! This started off as the second propagation I received from my neighbor. Since then, he’s propagated 5 more plants! Planta keeps telling me to trim him back but I’m finding it difficult to do so!

I need some advice on my zebra plant. The tips of the leaves are one by one turning brown and drying out, and I’m not sure if this is normal die-off or not. There is new leaf growth at the top but the stems are looking bare. I feel like I’m doing things right but maybe I’m missing something? - located in a bathroom - filtered east light (through one of those glass brick windows) - watering with filtered water (I bought special filter for my shower head just for this plant!) - watering when the soil is dry on top and the leaves are dropping a little (maybe I need to water more?? I know the zebra plant is fussy about watering)

First time making a diy moss pole used legigo premium sphagmum moss 2.2 lbs from amazon (one block can make like 3 to 5 poles depending on how dense and compact you want it to be) and tenax 3 x 15ft Hardware net from home depot. Decided i needed to transfer my monstera adansonii, to let it climb up since it started to lose some leaves. On another note, does anyone know what specific type this is? Just got it from Lowes. Will probably do the same for my other monsteras🖤

Hello everyone, I started sprouting these bird of paradise seeds in late October and they’ve been in soil for over a month. They’re doing great. Since my apartment is not very bright, instead of keeping moving the vase next to the only window that gets good light, I decided to buy this grow LED light and but it on a shelf in my bookshelf. The light is set on the minimum brightness and it’s about 4 inches from the little plants. Do you think this will work or is it too much for the baby plants? Thank you!!! Any tips appreciated!

I’m new to the plant world and so far 3 of my plants have died or are dying. My struggle is my cat likes to try to eat everything but my succulent. I am working on getting some shelves for my wall to keep them away from him. Any suggestions for green or leafy house plants that are safe around animals?

Hello! I’m new to the group and a fairly new plant mom. I recently purchased some new plants. One being the tornado dracanae. It has seemed to develop some black leaves in the center of the plant. It’s fairly small, no more than 5 inches tall. I read in another blog to remove the leave and add cinnamon. Any other suggestions? Thanks

Any advice on why my arrowhead is drooping so much?? It looks healthy to me, but I am also a new plant mom for this type of plant and don’t know much about it!! Is this normal for this plant to do this?

If I’m interested in getting a monstera plant, should I get the whole plant, or the node, because I’ve seen that getting singular nodes are less expensive, but I’m not sure how to plant it and make it grow.

My girl Doris here was next to death and only 2” tall shortly after I got her home. Now it’s over 2 foot tall and won’t support its own weight. Does anyone know if I should let it droop over the pot or keep it propped up with a trellis? Root growth has been crazy and I have had to repot it twice now. Wondering if I should make this a hanging plant and let dangle over the edges? Thanks for the help

And the sadder post. My silver inch plant was really struggling with half of it dying off very quickly. Through some research I found out that watering it with the shower head which I did once was not the smartest move especially as it was still in the same pot and soil from the nursery so all of the roots died. My entire plant was connected to roots in only three spots most of it was disconnected. First photo is how it looked the day I brought it home. I took the time to carefully separate out what was still good and was had already died and then put the cuttings in water. Planta and several websites said that you can safely propagate this plant in water if it is in a spot with bright indirect light. I put it in my window sill with all my other plants that need bright indirect light (second photo shows it in water) and a couple of the cuttings have rotted shown signs of rot on the bottom of the stem. Is there a chance I just missed some spots that had already rooted and the water made it worse? Is there a better way to propagate this plant or am so just waiting it out to see what survives and what doesn’t? I also took that last photo before changing the water out. It is back in fresh water and anything that had rotted has been removed.

Happy post first my plants are (mostly) thriving. My purple waffle plant that I posted so concerned about it needing to be repotted has made the decision for me as it has a flower. It’s little but I didn’t even know this plant could flower so definitely not repotting at the moment just keeping an eye on it.
