Hi, so I got this beauty today and I’m very nervous because my last alocasia didn’t make it but I could pass this one up when I found her at my favorite nursery (still shocked I found her at a local nursery)… So any advice would be greatly appreciated also would my plant do better in leca or just keep in a chunky mix? 🤍🌱

Curious on what your guys Alocasia’s soil is? My Silver Dragon is currently in indoor potting mix and orchid bark. She’s been doing amazing. I haven’t changed her soil in almost 2 years (I know, I know, 😐) I didn’t want to disturb her because I know they can be drama queens sometimes. This is my first Alocasia to stay alive. Any recommendations is welcome 🤗.
I found an Alocasia “Black Diamond” yesterday and brought it home. I’ve never heard of it? And apparently Google hasn’t really either? I can’t find anything on this plant. It is a reputable botanical shop so I am just confused. It does look very similar to a Regal Shield with the beautiful indented leaf. Also you can see my euphorbia I got in his new soil💕 I bought some metal chopsticks to help keep him upright (i really hope he lives🙏)
I was given and adopted this baby from my ceramic studio (Mar 16) as it was super struggling, and found a thrips infestation after I got it home. 😬 It was covered in splashes of clay and clay dust. Not sure when I’ll be in the clear, but the systemic seems to be working (treatment started 3/18) as I am finding less every morning. What should I do next? Repot in a better soil mix or let it recover and adjust to my home? Repot in a better soil after the 8 weeks of systemic protection ends and when temps will be warmer? I am seeing two new leafs forming. One from the healthier leaf and one from the bottom. Not sure how fast growing an elephant ear is? It used to be a decently sized plant 🌱 You can see the size of the snake plant I got too. Feel real lucky even with the pest problem.
Not sure if this is more of a semi hydro or alocasia question, but i recently moved my alocasias into leca and I dunno if I can use my regular liquid fertilizers [dr earth& miracle grow] for feeding or if i need something more suited towards semi-hydro. I'm more worried about the organic fertilizer since some nutrients have to break down for the plant to use it and i'm not sure if it can break down as much in semi hydro media. I know alocasias are moderate to heavy feeders so I wanna be able to feed them soon!
Found corms! I was repotting my Silver Dragon Alocasia, and I found corms! I’ve never dealt with corms before, but, I’m gonna try. I am using sphagnum moss, I’ve put the growth point up, it’s moist but not soggy, I’ve got plastic wrap over the jar to retain moisture. What more should I do?
First time growing corms, 2 nobilis at the bottom and 1 i just peeled today. I assume yellowing is normal but is it normal for the tips to go dark? They're still stiff but the color is throwing me off lol
Hi all! I’ve never had an alocasia but bought this one on a whim (VERY bold choice). After doing some research, I’m considering repotting in LECA. Does anyone have any tips for this? Have you found LECA to be better for alocasias? Specifically black velvet?
Some new alocasia leaves
What’s wrong with my tiny dancer 😩 I keep checking for pests and don’t find any. Each leaf slowly but surely gets these spots. I switched all my Alocasia to pon a few months ago and they have all taken off well but this one keeps killing its leaves. Is it me? Am I the drama?
Watch my Azlanii’s lil deformed leaf grow! Anyways idk why it came out like that. Maybe someone knows.

This may be an obvious question, but can I save her? I’ve heard that sometimes when they die they’ll bounce back. Died after I repotted, she looks pretty gone to me though :(
Anyone know what these green spots are?? My sister said they were from not getting enough sunlight, so I moved it to a brighter area. But the spots were still there. I don’t know if the spots go away or not, but I’m worried it might not be sunlight and might be a pest.
I need some advice. My cuprea has doing great, but is currently growing 2 flowers and what looks like a new leaf. I'm getting mixed messages on Google and I'm not sure if I should cut it off or let it flower. This my first one and I don't want to loose her. TIA
My Alocasia azlanii has been doing great and I *think* it produced a corm for me. I saw a little thing poking from the soil next to the main stem and tried to dig to uncover the whole thing without hurting too many roots. I don’t have a picture because I tried to pull it out nicely but I ended up breaking it. Is there a way to do it without pulling the plant out of the pot? I’m afraid it will get stressed and hate me.
